yes leukemia causes amyloidosis in which a kind of protein is deposited in tissues mainly the kidneys and spleen and bone marrow (large amounts of blood) and the heart.
usually it takes some time to develop.
for the leaky heart valves the cause might be general enlargement of the heart either due to this cause or previous longstanding hypertension.
please ask your physician to explain this aspect of the disease to you and get as much information for yourselves from him as you can, thats what hes there for.

Yes, leukemia can damage the organs. however, one of the chemotherapies used for AML causes cardiomyopathy. They should have done a MUGA (heart scan) before initiating treatment. Did he get daunarubicin or idarubicin? These both can cause heart damage.

Not that Im aware of. Leukemia is just the absence of white blood cells to fight off disease. AT the point where it's very critical, issues may come up with cleanliness due to high risk of infection. Basically, the answer to your question is "no."

Um, if leukemia is the cancer of the blood, then yes, it affects body organs. Blood goes through the organs and keeps them alive.

If left untreated or it progresses it gets in the bloodstream and causes damage to the spleen, liver, spinal cord, and brain.

If left untreated for a long amount of time, it can progress and chloromas or small tumors can be formed. Read more about it here: http://www.apjohncancerinstitute.org/cancer/acutemy.htm
