That happened to me. I guess at first I felt totally betrayed, mad, I didn't know what to do or what to think. Then I started trying to educate myself to "make sure" that I was correct that my belief system was based on lies. The whole process has taken several years, but then I started researching many other beliefs and religions and found out that most of them were also. So I am no longer a part of organized religion and I have discovered my own beliefs. I'm still on my spiritual quest but my current beliefs probably lean toward New Thought.

Well to be absolutely honest, it is up to the individual to find the truth. It is hard to trust religion or anything else when you have been lied to for a long period of time. I'm not exacty sure of your problem, but maybe you should turn to another church or pastor for spiritual guidence. There are many things to consider when talking about belief systems, and there is no simple answer. My best advice is to take some time and do your research. While doing research, consider doing some soul searching as well. When you can identify who you are, you will know what you believe in. Remember to be encouraged, and things will eventually get better.

This is a really tough question to answer. In order to do so would mean some part of me would have to have doubt in my beliefs yet I have none. I believe highly in God!

I don't neccesarily believe in every aspect of my religion so if you are asking me if my church belief "system", (being the system my church has created for me) turned out to be a lie then I would have to say it wouldn't surprise me. Every Faith is made up of sometype of lie. Church is a man run orginization and being such it can never be 100% truthful. I go to church, I enjoy the discussions about the bible (which I also do not believe whole heartedly) and I worship a person I hold near and dear to my heart , Jesus Christ. A man whom I will never find out not to exist, he does exist, I feel it within myself and it is stronger than anything I have to believe in.

i did realize that, and i doesnt have all to do with church and such like it seems to for some. though i guess that may be part of ones whole belief system, but only part. for myself its more like "everything". when everything breaks down into lies then comes back together all at once i guess i dont do anything, or anything im able to define anyway. it just blows my mind. ive been pondering it for awhile now, still dont know what to do with it.

How do you know it is a lie? If because someone else questions your beliefs? Or actual proof? My friend used to ask me all of the time why I believe in God? My answer... I can't prove or disprove that He exists, but if it gives me some kind of hope and makes me a little happier on this earth why not? No harm no foul if I am wrong... If I am right, boy am I glad I am not you...

Probably the first thing I'd do is cry. It would certainly be a loss. Then I would examine why I believed the way that I did. I'd also change the way I believed, and get rid of so called friends who believed the same way so that they could no longer use emotional hooks to get me back into their way of thinking.

I would go back to the basics. Find out what is important and work from there. This is a perfect time to weed out the things that are not working and look for things that you want to make important in your life.

Which is impossible because it's not based on lies...but to answer your question...I wouldn't feel bad because it made me who I am today; a better person, made me stay away from sins, pushed me to seek knowledge and stand for justice, ...etc. too much for me to regret or feel bad for anything.

Laugh it off. Everyone makes mistakes and what else should I do, become distraught and beg for forgiveness? To err is to be human, after all.

Abandon it at once and begin to pursue a life that was all about me, me, me. And, also, speak against my former false beliefs.
