The official story on Iraq has never made sense. The connection that the Bush administration has tried to draw between Iraq and al-Qaida has always seemed contrived and artificial. In fact, it was hard to believe that smart people in the Bush administration would start a major war based on such flimsy evidence. The pieces just didn't fit. Something else had to be going on; something was missing. In recent days, those missing pieces have finally begun to fall into place. As it turns out, this is not really about Iraq. It is not about weapons of mass destruction, or terrorism, or Saddam, or U.N. resolutions. This war, should it come, is intended to mark the official emergence of the United States as a full-fledged global empire, seizing sole responsibility and authority as planetary policeman. It would be the culmination of a plan 10 years or more in the making, carried out by those who believe the United States must seize the opportunity for global domination, even if it means becoming the "American imperialists" that our enemies always claimed we were. Once that is understood, other mysteries solve themselves. For example, why does the administration seem unconcerned about an exit strategy from Iraq once Saddam is toppled? Because we won't be leaving. Having conquered Iraq, the United States will create permanent military bases in that country from which to dominate the Middle East, including neighboring Iran.
This Is The Real Goal Of USA In Iraq.

Can't answer the first one: I don't think the American public knows why we really went to war in Iraq. The White House has admitted that it wasn't about WMDs & that Saddam Hussein had no credible connection to the 9/11 attacks. Logically, it can't be because we wanted to rid the world of a tyrant (the U.S. supports tyrants in other parts of the world), nor can it be because we wanted to catch terrorists (there are far more confirmed terrorists in Syria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, etc. etc. etc.) Maybe there is a right reason as to why the U.S. invaded, but said right reason has not been revealed by our leaders.

On the second question, the American troops (and the dozens of troops from other countries in the "coalition") can't leave if it is going to create a power vacuum, which would inevitably lead to another tyrannical terrorist-sympathizing regime. More work needs to be done training the Iraqis to establish law and order by themselves & create a working government that serves all Iraqi people of all faiths and ethnicities. The sooner we can get our troops home & stop making them such convenient targets for bombers, the better, but not until the Iraqis are ready to fully take charge of their own country.

Considering the Bush admin. gave 3 excuses for going into Iraq, all of which the public fell for, yes I believe it was a bad idea to invade Iraq. We should have handled the Iraq situation just as we are with Iran and North Korea, diplomacy.
First Bush excuse: 9/11 Connection; which we all know is false. The highjackers were mostly from Saudi Arabia and Saddam Hussein actaullt despised Osama Bin Ladan.
Second Bush excuse: WMD's; when the first excuse wouldn't fly they slapped this one on. I think partly because we had a notion that Saddam might have chemical weapons (we sold them to him). When their were no WMD's found on they went.......
Third Bush excuse: Liberating Iraq; very clever of the Bush admin. to use human rights, who could question that.

I'm not sure if we went for the right reasons but to say we shouldn't be there or that we aren't accomplishing anything is like saying all of those soldiers that died- died for no reason. I support anyone that does what their country asked them to. I would like to see all our troops at home- but if you ask any of them - they do not want to leave until the job is done. They want to finish it so we don't have to go back a third time.

Yes we are there for the 'right' reasons. And we need to stay there until the job is finished.

We will win the 'war on terror' when the terrorists believe that we will never give up.

As long as there are people trying to make us quit - the terrorists will think that they can win.

Yes, I think we are IN IRAC for the right reasons.......and I don't think we NEED TO COME HOME til the job is done.

I cannot EVER forget what happened on 911 in OUR homeland.........fighting for this country is still voluntary.......and I respect and honor every man/woman that makes that decision, but it's not over --- TIL IT'S OVER.......

I support our troups.........and so does the Government......and I'm proud of everyone of them........but it is NOT time to come home...............it's time to end this ............and win!
