I have been observing many of the questions arising, and I can see there are Americans, and legal immigrants that are angry about the illegal immigration, and all the other illegal activities committed after crossing the border.
But, are Americans really willing to do anything about it?

Can you handle being called Racist, because that is what is going to take.
Illegal Immigration is not about race, or foreign nations. It is about being free in America to not have to suffer at the hands of criminals, I don't care what country they come from. But, we do have to start somewhere. American money flow on American soil is controlled by Americans, and is the most powerful tool that we have to get our government's attention. Politics, is how we deal with politicians. I am closing my wallet to all Mexican owned businesses, that hire only Mexicans, because I do not know if they sponsor criminals. They sure don't up hold our equal opportunity laws. I will not use their lawn services, or eat at their restaurants. The only reason that I am beginning where I am, is because they are the proudest of their illegal status and have shown it. The only people that will say I am racist are those that know I am right, and afraid that you will join the fight, and send them home pennyless

I think it's a regional issue. I use to live in California, in fact, I grew up next to the Tecate, Mexico border. It was an issue back then and no one really seemed to care. I've noticed that over the last few years, when it's been more of push to print media in Spanish, the publicity of how much illegal immigration is costing, etc,. people are becoming more aware of the situation. But I also note that in Cali, more people seem willing to hire illegals or offer a helping hand, deserved or not.
A year ago, I moved to Wyoming where the attitude is completely different. I have several friends who are naturalized U.S. citizens from Mexico and they have worked hard for what they have here. They resent the,"Oh brother, you owe me" mentality they receive from the illegal Mexicans and they're not tolerated here. They can't find jobs or hand outs here and move on quickly.
So to answer your question, I think that people are beginning to do something about it. On a more grand scale, I think it will come eventually but that the U.S. feels so divided on other issues right now we're not willing to separate us more.

The border patrol at the actual borders and the airports really need to crack down and catch these people. The government also needs to stop making it a "Mexican" issue, it needs to be just an "Illegal Immigrant" issue. Because it is way more than Mexicans, we have Illegal Immigrants from every country, but all most people think of when the words illegal immigrants is used is Mexican. Start patrolling the borders, airports, cruise ships.

Yes, each of us must do some thing. No matter how small. And we must vote against those who do not observe/enforce the laws and do not care for/protect our basic rights to be Americans.
I have written at least 8 different representatives in our government. I have stopped hiring people who appear to be obviously illegal, I have stopped speaking Spanish as a gesture of support in public places for non English speakers who need help ordering parts, pay for bills etc., I have been turning in people who do illegal acts, when I know they are not legal immigrants. (Recently, an illegal Mexican ran down my fence with his car and drove away. I tracked him down, turned him into the cops. It appears he is illegal, underage, unlicensed, uninsured, and not legally in ownership of his car. Yet he is driving around damaging property and leaving the scene without a care.) It is only because we let these offenders off the hook to get away with this kind of thing that we have the problem. We all must act to defend our country and what is ours. Push the system to protect you. Mandate that the law is enforced. If this is not done by all of us piecemeal, the American way will be lost.
"If we do not hang together, we will hang seperately!"
If every American did one small thing and voted agains this illegal travesty and those that support it, we would/will easily defeat these invadors and gain our country back again.

Personally, I am willing to do something about it. Illegal immigrants cost us as tax payers millions of dollars a year so they are already hitting our wallet as a nation. As for being called a racist, to me that is not a big deal. We will all be called racists at one point in or lives or another. That is an big American issue and name.

polls:
65% say immigration is #1 issue for elections in November
80% of Americans want illegals deported
If the government doesn't do the right thing, I've read where the KKK and white supremacists plan to do their own thing.
I gotta ask, say your walking along the border and a group of illegals cross over and go after you, then a group of KKK or white supremacists (or black if there are any) saves your life.
Who are you going to empathize with then?

I believe we are, but it's the politicians who have the power to make change. It seems most of them aren't doing what they're be asked to do.

Of course I am. What do you suggest we do though? Go out there crocodile hunter style, and relocating them?
