The US uses about 3000 barrels of diesel per day, so 20% would be 600 barrels per day. One barrel of oil is 42 gallons so that would be 25,200 gallons per day.

However there is another definition of a barrel (not of oil). It is only 31.5 gallons and I am not sure which kind of barrel is used to measure diesel. However, diesel is also called diesel oil, so I'll stick with the 42 gallons.

The exact number would be impossible to figure out since we do not know the exact number of cars in United states. But I can say for sure that it would save a lot of diesel.
