Last year my boyfriend stopped drinking because he ended up in jail and is now on perole because of it. Just last week I caught him drinking again for the first time since then. If his probationary officer finds out he will end up back in jail and I will lose the house and end up living in my car car with the kids. What do I do?

Most experts believe that there is no such thing as an ex-alcoholic.

If you caught him drinking, he's drinking. An alcoholic who drinks is a drunk.

Find an Al-Anon meeting near you (call information) and go to six meetings before you decide whether or not it is for you. The folks there have seen all this a zillion times, and they'll help you figure out what you want.

Just make sure to let them know that you're new and scared.

You need to know that there are no ex-alcoholics. If you are an alcoholic and are sober for thirty years you are still an alcoholic. It is a disease and you have to stay in recovery and not indulge if you want to control the drinking. He must decide if he wants to stop drinking and practice what it will take to stay sober and not be incarcerated.. Alcoholic's Anonymous is a great start. I suggest that you join Ala-non so you can deal with his problem. You can find a chapter near you in either the phone book or the Internet. Good luck!

You need to find an attorney. There is no such thing as an ex alcoholic. Its a day to day battle. Just because you caught him drinking doesnt mean it was the first time. Get legal help now.

will you lose your home because you posted bail or a bond or something like that on him? If so, you can go back to court and revoke whatever he has over you. It will put him back in jail but your property will be safe. Are you really sure that he is boyfriend material? Sounds like he doesn't really care too much about what happens to you or yours.

More than likely, you will have to leave. Seek help. Counseling, kids, work and hobbies should be the priority. Marital therapy is also important. Take it a day at a time but go forward, not back!
