Damn. thepaladin38 recommended the stuff that I was going to.

There are a FEW people out there who will never be able to do the splits, but not many. Try this: put one leg up on a chair to your side so that it's about 90 degrees to your body. Then do it with the other leg. If both legs can go to 90 deg, then you have the potential flexibility in each leg to be able to do the splits. There's noting connecting each leg to the other, so there's nothing preventing you from doing that with both legs at the same time but proper stretching and strength training to train your body to do it.

Yes, with isometic and dynamic stetching. Sometimes also kicks help...
I suggest you to try every day after the warming up, during the training and at the end.
Search in internet: wushu videos. At the moment I don't no the adress, but i Know there are specific exercises to increase flexibility.
Moreover, for the full spilt is important to enlonge not only legs but alsto hips and this skill depende also on your genetic constitution of waist (open or very close).
Training every day with patiente!

Train To Do The Splits

tight skin is probably the weirdest answer I have ever seen on this site! what a laugh!

Any normal person can train to do the splits just like training to do any other physical feat. You gradually increase your limits in a steady way to avoid injury. When you are limber all over you walk taller and feel younger, so go for it.

I think that most can, yes. I think that it all really depends on how much and what you stretch. It also depends on the person as well, if you have bad joints, i.e. your knees, hips, etc that no matter how much you try, you will never achieve the full splits. But one way to try to achieve it is to stretch your calves and hamstrings everyday. Just start out by doing the splits as much as you can without pain and work your way up to the full thing.

I think so. Go to www.stadion.com and take a look at a DVD called the Secrets of Stretching by Thomas Kurz and a book called Stretching Scientifically by Thomas Kurz. There's also another book called Ulitimate Flexibility for the Martial Arts by Sang Kim which is great.

Not eveybody can do splits, even with the proper training. I have some skin between my legs that will not stretch and will not let me open my legs up much more than 90 degrees. And it is a part of my anatomy that is not my privates.

The average normal person can. There is no trick to it...only work. Stretching is about the only thing you can do...yoga is best because it is more important for your entire body to be limber than for you to just be limber enough to do splits. Full body work is the only way to achieve your goal and you must go slowly to avoid injury...pushing yourself too hard may lead to very painful recovery.

by doing a split over and over again every day and trying to go as far down as you can without hurting urself you will be able to strech enough to eventully do a slpit. Also standing up with ur back against a wall and pulling each of ur legs as far up as you can will help with stretching
