I have 2 children and have experience as a woman with those "issues" and can tell you the following advice.

Yes that can be ovulation, it can also be a side effect of birth control or you could be pregnant! There are ways to tell what it may be but there are factors involved (ex. how old are you) and questions you should be asking, but there could be other explinations, the best bet is to see your doctor.

A good place to start is:
1. Have you had unprotected sex or do you take birth control and if you do have you missed any pills?
2. Is this a monthly issue or only this 1 time?
3. Have you ever been diagnosed with an ovarian cyst? Those cause pain in your sides too.

Sounds to me, if it is just one time and a very sharp pain, that you need to see a doctor. You very well could be pregnant. (are you late?) Not enough info to true answer you question, but hope it helps you think of what to do next.

When your ovulating, your estrogen levels are the highest. Some women experience headaches, packaches, sharp pains, dull pains, sore nipples, sore breasts, mid-cycle spotting, increase/decrease in appetite, etc. Some women are lucky enough to have none of these symptoms, and some have all.

too early for signs... you might begin experiencing signs as early as per week after perception, whilst implantation takes location. Then, you might consider a few moderate cramping...
