its fun to do and wear...I do weaves for white and black people (who have plenty of hair by the way). And it doesn't do as much damage to hair as perms and dyes. Think of the diversity in hair styles you can go from a short bob to long curly locks in a few hours.

All of you are so silly... I really need people who are not black women to stop answering this question like they know what it is to manage and have our hair...you sound ignorant and very offensive.

I am a black woman and I have shoulder length, lovely hair and I don't wear weave. I wonder the same thing about my sisters too. But it's because I know that our hair can be beautiful hair.

WHY in the world do you wonder?

Since we are on this subject...

Why do white women think that long, flat, BORING hair is oh so the sh*t? Put some style to your mane, dang!

because you can change your hairstyle at a moments notice.
Hey even the white woman cannot make her hair into all the style she may ever desire that is where the weave ons come in handy. it is totally indespensable to women of all race not just the blacks. And hey!!! do you know how hard it is to manage a black hair??
The weave has made it easier, if you want to carry your natural hair nobody is stopping you, and just for the record i do not like long hair. I wear mine short, so the choice of a weave on my hair is not so i can wear it long.

If you want to see their natural hair, go to the salon

If you take notice weave is not just for Black women anymore!

The White girls are lovin' the weave too! The ones I noticed are mostly famous (Britney, Paris, Jessica Simpson they even weaved-up Katherine on American Idol) but not so famous are following suit!

I guess all women like to have hair they can swing over their shoulders sometimes! LOL Thankfully I can and I am anti-weave!

I am a Black woman and I don't wear weave outside of braids, and that is only for the summer months. I think that for some women they are trying to be someone they aren't. For others they do not have as much hair as they desire. Hey, if you can't achieve it weave it, if you can't grow it, sew it.

I think there's an image of having long, straight hair that many of them want to live up to. I believe women who wear weave a lot prefer this image to their real hair.

Excuse me honey, but I see many women of EVERY race wearing hair weaves and wigs every single day - not just black women. And let's not forget Brittany Spears, Angelina Jolie, Christina Aguilera, Drew Barrymore, PARIS HILTON, etc... - they all wear extensions, weaves (and Paris usually wears wigs.)
If a black woman (or a white woman) chooses to wear a weave, that's her style, and if that's what she feels comfortable with - and if that's what she feels LOOKS better than her real hair - then it's all good.

Because sometimes ur own hair can be damage from some much heat to and from weave to, its all depends on how u put it in ur head to, and some women like it because they dont have to do they own hair they can just spray and go.

Black women's hair grows very slowly and it is very expansive to maintain. They have to use special chemicals to get it to grow and be strong or else it just breaks off. The easiest way is just to add a weave so that they can have the hair they want without all the work. They also have a greater risk of getting alopecia than white people so the weave covers up those spots.
