Depends on what he likes. I am decorating a rectangle cake like a suit for one and a round cake like a basketball. Lemon cake with actual lemonade concentrate added lately has been a big hit. Of course, in general. chocolate is the more popular.

A FATHERS DAY CAKE - It has to be some form of chocolate or fudge batter: It CANNOT be a white cake.
It CANNOT have coconut frosting. The frosting must be brown or orange or red. Never pink or yellow for Fathers Day.

My favorite cake is spice cake. It tastes a lot like pumkin pie. So after it cools completely, spread coolwhip on it instead of icing.
