No...I repeat NO!! insurgent attacks today in Baghdad. That's huge. We are winning this war. Yes, we suffered the death of 2,500 patriots in Iraq over a 3 year period, but from a warfare fighting perspective that is unbelievably low.
Put that in perspective with the reality that there were almost 17,000 murders in America in 2005 alone. How many good Americans will be killed on their own soil in Iraq after 10 years?

Butts handed to them(erudite)? Troops are taking a beating(shadobeast)?...
You can't even watch Al Jazeera and still think that!
Erudite... where in the world did you come up with completely ficticious number of 1,864? By the fall of Saigon in April? 1975, 68,000 men had lost their lives in Vietnam... hardly a comparison.
But wait.... MADD said that 17,000 men, women and children were killed on Americas roads by drunk drivers last year alone!!! There are those that say that number is a lot lower... perhaps closer to 5,500.... thats still a body-count for a single year... twice what was lost in the past 5 even if you include Afghanistan.
Speaking of Afghanistan.... more U.S. soldiers were killed by off-duty motorcycle accidents last year alone than in all of Afghanistan since 2001!
Smoke that.

Vietnam and Iraq are completely different wars. Vietnam took time before substantial numbers of combat troops hit the jungle. When the Iraqi Freedom began, hundreds of thousands crossed the Iraqi border. Vietnam was fought in the jungle against an enemy that was willing to fight on a large scale. Iraqi terrorists fight in small groups and most US casualties are from IEDs (roadsidde bombs). In Vietnam, there was an army, but in Iraq, its individuals or small groups.
If you want to make comparisons and complaints, then ask why did we invade Europe during WW2? Why did thousands of soldiers die on the beaches, in the air, in the sea? Did Hitler ever threaten chemical, biological or nuclear war? Did he maliciously attack civilians on American soil?
To answer your retarded question, we have overthrown a dictatorship, captured Saddam, and are assisting in the development of a new government in Iraq... in THREE YEARS. We accomplished every mission our government have asked of us soldiers. The only thing handed to us is bull from people like you.

Hmmm,,, let me put an answer to that. We think that these are just a bunch of rag tag people. They change their tactics after they see how we counter them. It is hard to kill an "insurgent" when he looks like everybody else. If they wore an enemy uniform it would be no problem. It's pretty easy to distinguish coalition forces, therefore creating an easy target. Our butts aren't being handed to us either. You ought to come up with a question on how you could be thanking the military for providing your freedom, instead of an idiotic question such as yours. Another thing,,, get your facts right.

Let me see . . . Oh yeah. The official count of casualties for US Forces during Vietnam were 58,191. Looks like we are quite a ways away from that. Also seems like your facts may be off a bit.

Our Troops are taking a beating for one simple reason.........We are trying to be the Good Guys and play by the rules (I.e. This is a Police Action - The war is over remember?) and the Bad Guys get to make up their own rules as they go not caring who dies in the process.

Again why compare the wars BOTH were bad, thousands of brave men and women have lost their lives in both wars and many more will die or get wounded. Instead of comparing or putting down you need to support the military and stand behind them no matter what!!!

What the hell is your point? I don't think people who want to destroy us will use pop guns. Don't you understand this? They want you, me, all of us dead. We don't believe the way they do so they want to destroy us. How many died for our war of freedom? Why don't you bring that up? Why don't you bring up the fact that we have troops in Germany,, how long has it been since WWII? People didn't support that war and if we wouldn't have taken part in it we would all be speaking German.

Say 1-3 of our boys died today, probly atleast 50-1000 insurgents were killed, or captured. From a standpoint of casulty rate, we are winning substantially.

becuase the insurgents today are not bummbling idiots. They are expertly trained in gurrilla warfare and have not only ak47s, but they do have some high tech kit too. That, and they have the homefield advantage.
