Yes, many Christians do believe that homosexuality is an abomination. The problem with that kind of thought is that there are 10 other sins that are more readily done than the homosexual act by everyone including gays.
For example idle gossip is a no-no yet I don't know a living person that at some point doesn't repeat or believe gossip... looking at another person with lust in your eye is a sin but i don't know anyone who doesn't get turned-on be seeing someone other than their mate (who must have turned them on at some point prior to becoming married)... so according to the Bible it is a sin, ONE OF MANY!
Now is a homosexual going to hell for having a same sex partner? If they believe in Jesus as their Savior I'd have to say no... Jesus never said that only the sinless could believe in Him and get to heaven... he made no requirements other than "love one another as they self and Love the Lord your God with all thy heart"
Are practicing homosexuals are destine to burn in Hell just because they have a same sex partner/lover, I very much doubt that would be the deciding factor otherwise there are 7 billion other sinners on planet earth that your going to be joining the gays and Satan...
BTW, there is nothing in the Bible to indicate that lesbians are doing anything wrong, the only homosexual references refer to a man sleeping with a man... Some Christians will try to extrapolate the male/male reference to females but that is a REALLY BIG stretch.

Just a reminder, eating pork is an abomination also.
So, according to the "Bible" as you put it, eating bacon is equal to homosexuality.
Every overweight American, Bible Thumping, Pick up Driving, Red State living, greasy spoon eating person is an abomination.
This is the great thing about the "Bible" - it can say anything you want it to.
If you read Paul's writings on marriage, he seems to be leaning towards male bonding rather than marriage.
I dont believe that the new testament is against homosexuality but really teaches tolerance and openness to all people - women, prostitutes, lepers, poor, sick, etc. unlike the Jewish tradition which was intolerant.
Which is worse? A leper or a f a g. I don't think that Jesus would make any distinction and would be accepting to both. Where were all the wives with the 12 Disciples? The gospels suggest that the Disciples did not like Mary Magdeline ... hmm, wonder why?

Homosexuals themselves are NOT evil...but their way of life is an abomination...because it is UNNATURAL. Have you ever really seen a gay couple have a child of their own without any interference? That's cause it'll never happen...no matter how much technology out there...because it's simply not meant to be. It's forbidden in the Bible...and if you look at Sodom and Gomorrah...as well as 3 other cities destroyed along with them....there was homosexuality about...and God let fire come down from the sky and destroy the city along with the disgusting acts.

Homosexuals aren't the abomination. It's the act of homosexuality. I know Christian people who are attracted to the same sex but do not practice these acts because they are against God's will. Christianity is all about forsaking personal lusts for the service of God and others. Homosexuality just happens to be one of those lusts.
For more on the Bible view on homosexual acts here are a few verses to reference:
1 Corinthians 6: 9-10
Romans 1:24-27
Leviticus 18:22-23

No, they are not an abomination. The act of homosexuality is a sin and the Bible says that people who continue in this way will NOT make it into God's Kingdom; not the Heavenly one nor the Earthly one.
The Apostle Paul was writing to the early Christians (They were called "The Way" in those days), and he mentioned to them "That is what some of you once were"). He told that they now they would be accepted as Christians because they changed their former way of life. People can change, and as long as they do this before their death or the end of this system we live in, God will forgive them in a large way and shower them with blessings until there is no more want.

The bible is just a book. To be Christian is to be like Christ. I don't think that Christ would ever call any human soul an aboination. So, I would say that following the bible in not being Christian and Christians do not think Homosexuals are an abomination.

The problem in asking this question is that Christianity is not a "homogeneous religion. In almost every country where Christianity has a substantial following, you will find not one single “Christian” church but a bewildering assortment of churches. One would almost certainly see Catholic, Methodist, Anglican, Presbyterian, Pentecostal, Lutheran and Baptist churches among these. Each of these, as we will see, have different methods of worship and different theologies or beliefs."
The number of Christian denominations is simply perplexing; according to the World Christian Encyclopedia there are over 20,800 Christian denominations!
To answer your question, some Christians believe it is so, some do not.

There are Christians who follow the literal translation of the Bible, and those who interpret it for general guidance. Hardline Christians who see the Bible as black and white tend to be more homophobic, but those who see the shades of gray do not regard homosexuality as an abomination. It all comes down to how much you incorporate practical knowledge and awareness with Biblical teachings.

I am a christian, although I believe that homosexuals are an abomination, but I would never treat someone badly because they were. I have friends who are, and they aren't any different, but as it says in the bible it is an abomination.
