The better question to ask is how easy are they to train and live with?
Ridgebacks are powerful hunting dogs that can easily kill a smaller animal. One of my clients had a female Ridgeback that ripped her other dog's throat open - fortunately, he survived. The Ridgeback went to a home where it was the only dog.
Some Ridgebacks are very sweet, but this is a breed that can be a nightmare for the inexperienced. They can be aggressive and very hard-headed. If you like this style of dog, I'd suggest getting a Vizsla instead.
If you're determined to get one, find a breeder who really cares about temperament and make sure you see at least one of the parents.

Hey, I'm local to Fresno too. I would NOT go through our local paper, it's just a bunch of back yard breeders with sick dogs. Check petfinder.com and the local SPCA regularly, one might show up.
Otherwise, try their national breed club http://rrcus.org/ to find a reputable breeder. It may take you a little extra time and distance, but it's worth it for a companion you're going to have for the next decade and a half.

Check your local newspaper first. Also you can look up Ridgebacks on the internet and they will let you know of breeders in your area.
