The number of adults observed washing their hands in public restrooms rose slightly from 78 percent in 2003 to 83 percent in 2005. Almost all of this increase is explained by an increase in the proportion of women hand washers from 83 to 90 percent. Male hand washing did not change significantly (from 74% in 2003 to 75% in 2005).

NO. It is most certainly NOT a waste of time. Think about what you're touching: if you're at the urinal, you're grabbing your penis. I know I certainly don't want to shake hands with you after your hands have been on that. And you're still getting small molecules of urine on your hand. Wash your hands.
And when doing #2, you wipe your butt with toilet paper. That means that your hand has been near your anus, and the objects that come out of it. You might not feel anything get on your hands, but you've still picked up germs somewhere along the line. There are still remnants of that #2 still in the air; hell, that's why we smell things--tiny molecules of whatever it is you are smelling are expelled into the air and reach your nose. You have just gotten some of these airborne molecules on your hands.
Bottom line is this, though: WASH YOUR HANDS AFTER EVERY TRIP TO THE BATHROOM. You might not think you have anything on your hands, but most of the dirty stuff that DOES get on your hands is not visible to the naked eye.
As for your original question...I don't know the exact percentage of men that wash their hands, but I hope to hell that it's the majority of them. If it isn't, then I'm going to have to rethink shaking hands with some of you.

Ewwww!! I don't care what they think they did or did not get on their hands. They need to wash them after touching themselves. I bet only about 25% do though!

60% and that's a generous estimate. There's always tons of soup and paper towel left in the men's room when the women's have long since been depleted. I'm the one who calls the maintenance person at my building to replenish it, so I know.
