In 1 Corinthians, it states that it is better to be more like God,(being single, so all our attention can go to God)
If we are married, do not get divoriced. Only get married if you cannot control your desires, so that you don't fall into sin.
Don't get a divorice on the count of your husband or wife is an unbeliever because being married makes them holy and your children holy.

Special instructions for a different time...I Corinthians 7:7-9.
The church was undergoing some serious persecution, and Paul's instruction was that it might be better to remain unmarried and with out a family during that time, since the persecutors (Jews at first, then the Romans) could use your family against you to try to make you renounce Jesus. If you were single, yours was the only life you endangered.

Paul answers this as a recommendation, not as a command. Verses 7-8.

1 Corinthians 7:8-9
"Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I am. But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion."

Not there. You misunderstood. One of the disciples told Jesus that it would be better to remain unmarried if he could not get a divorce, for any reason.

Actually, he said it was better to be single, not good. Small point I know.
Marriage is for the carnally weak.
This I believe; http://homelessheart.com/testimony.htm
