No, no, never! Speed bumps cause damage to vehicles. There are other traffic calming devices available that work as well and don't damage vehicles. And excessive stop signs are not the answer to speeding traffic either.

Neighborhoods should be designed with turns and other natural ways to limit speeds. Speed bumps might be a way to slow people down, but they are not the preferable way (especially in the north with snow). If you notice a pattern of excessive speed (3:00 p.m. Monday - Friday because of high schoolers, 6:00 p.m. because of commuters, etc.) then inform your local police department. They can probably send an officer down on occassion to surprise the drivers with a little fine.

This is a matter to be decided within each neighborhood. In ours that is how children play with neighbors. We need speed bumps because we have a bunch of new drivers in our area who read the speed limit signs right to left instead of the expected left to right (that is, they see "52 MPH" where it says "25 MPH.").

I want everyone who answers "yes" to this question to leave the country.

Does everything have to be problematic, more complicated, and less enjoyable? I'm all for an orderly society, but going overboard dooms us to having a cold, antiseptic society like Switzerland.

I'm sure some mothers are going to decry my callousness, "Oh, my little Susie might get hurt by some speeding car". Well, teach Susie not to play in the street. That is your job as a parent.

definite. My husband hates them. i do no longer suggestions them in any respect. i think of they are the lesser of two evils. for variety of 15 years beforehand the bumps have been put in; rushing become a severe subject in our community. We tried utilizing the table certain machines that examine and reveal the fee of motor vehicle; those that say "the fee cut back is 25 mph, your motor vehicle velocity: 40 5 mph" We tried having law enforcement officials objective our section. no longer something labored for long. velocity limits listed right here are 25 mph, and individuals sped alongside at 40 5 to 70 >gasp< mph. We had close to misses aplenty; and a few injured young ones, fender benders, and one severe injury. I wish the bumps weren't mandatory, yet there are too lots of people who force dangerously rapid devoid of them.

i think its a good idea. it makes people slow down. i have seen some people drive 40 thru a neighborhood where my family and other families are outside playing and could easily be hurt. there's a reason for speedlimits, and when people choose to ignore those, speedbumps will quickly remind them of it

Only if it is really necessary and only after the citizens of those neighborhoods had a vote.

Oh please, it is just another unnecessary expense. If your kids played in the backyard, it wouldn't be an issue.

And, BTW, speed limits are just ONE way in which the federal government has exceeded its authority. Such an action would be yet another.

yeah, if you have a bunch of cakes who think they have a "fast and furious" car, but really they just have a P.O.S. with an auto zone exhaust tip who try to speed in residential areas.
