I have had a high level of protein in my urine everytime I go to the doctor and give a sample, and most generally everytime I go I have a UTI also. But the weird thing is, is that I never have any of the symptoms and everyone that I have ever talked to that has had one says that they are very painful. I have had about 7 in the last year, and the protein started showing up when I got pregnant with my daughter last october. They thought that it would go away after she was born....well she will be one in July and I am still having the protein and the UTI's almost everytime. I can almost put money that anytime I am asked to do a UA I will have one and have excess protein at, at least a +3 or higher. I have done several 24 hr urine tests and they always show the high level of protein but no one ever does anything about it. I am becoming increasingly concerned and the doctors are really not doing anything to narrow it down. If anyone has anything that can help me please let me know.

I have had that problem. Your doctor needs to do a urine culture. I would imagine the doctor isn't doing that and is just prescribing an antibiotic, which is NOT killing the bacteria. Hence, the bacteria is just getting more and more antibiotic resistant. Please go see a urologist ASAP. Kidney damage is NOT a good thing at all. It took me almost 2 years to get rid of mine.

Hi,

Every time I would go to the doctor for my 3-month diabetic check up I would test positive for UTI without symptoms - for over 2 years. For the last 6 months I have not shown positive for UTI. What changed? 6 months ago I self-diagnosed a systemic yeast infection and am under a diet and herbal cleanse, that will need to go for two to three more months.

What you need to know is what the doctor sees in your test results that leads him/her to that diagnosis. Ask him/her. If it is a high white blood cell count, other things can cause that - including a systemic yeast infection.

About the high protein, I don't know, except my doctor checks for that as a result of my diabetes.

First, I would see another doctor. Do you have diabetes, high blood pressure or hypertension? These disorders can cause excess protein in the urine called proteinura.

If you have any of the above disorders you need to control your blood pressure and blood glucose levels.
