my family doesn't have much money but we're not like dirt poor. my brother goes to a public high school which he pretty much hates. i just got accepted into a super expensive school with a scholarship. it isn't a full one so my single mother is going to have to cough up a lot of dough for me to go there. my bro is considering getting a job to help w/ my school expenses. it is the school of my dreams but i don't want to be a burden to my whole family. to me it seems kind of unfair cause i always get the better of things because i a second born. well my question is : Do i quit the school i love so we can be a little better off (finacial wise)?

No! Don't give up. My parents worked so hard all their lives to raise us. My mom used to stare with longing at the Ed McMahon's sweepstakes, you know? And I promised myself that one day she's get that house. I watched mom work herself into a comma. Dad sometimes worked two or even three jobs to feed all of us. But when it was my turn, God allowed me to do for them what they did for me. My mom's got that house and it's nicer than the ones in those magazines...lol. Please just work hard, make excellent grades and give them their rest when it's your turn. One day you'll be making lots of money and you will do what's right. Just remember that every time it gets hard. They are working for the family, not just for you. It's what families are all about.

NO. If your mother and your brother are both willing to make such sacrifices for you, you need to go to that school and make top grades. They both see you as the person in the family who has a chance and who can make a difference and they want to see that you get every opportunity to do so.

Continue to go to the school you love, do well, and make your family proud and their sacrifice worth something. If they felt otherwise, they would not have done this, they would have told you then that the answer was no. Please, I implore you, use this opportunity to the full extend. You will pay back the "burden" at some point when they need help.

If you don't quit the school, you'd come off as selfish, but you could just go to another less-expensive school that might give you a full scholarship since you got into a super expensive school with a half-scholarship.

If you really want to go to that school go for it! My family ins't dirt poor either but we don't have that much money. If I got accepted to a school I liked I would go, because my family wanted me too. They would help with money. Your brother is offering to help, so let him help.
Do what you feel like. Good Luck

Would be better able to help out when you graduate with a degree? A little sacrafice now would pay off in a way that you might be able help them latter. Your brother can get a job now, then you could help him later. Same with your Mom.Good Luck & God Bless

Why don't you take out some loans? You can also apply for financial aid. If you go to the FAFSA website, you can fill out forms and see what they can do for you. The college you may be attending also may have financial aid counselors you can look into that as well. Good luck!

I think you should look into student loans, grants, etc and not be a financial burden to your whole family.

You have got to take this opportunity. If it makes you feel better, write everything down and pay them back. Try other grants and loans too. Above all- work your butt off and make them proud!

No, if they have offered this to you do it and when your field pays off return the favor. Your Mom and Brother sound like awesome people, not every kid is as lucky as you. Make them proud.

Get a student loan to repay after you graduate. THis way there is no burden on them.
