After trying Vonage for 2 days and having it crash my computer (argh), then having the company tell me, 'oops, didn't we tell you we've already disconnected your other phone service' I need the names and plans that are truly great and will function out of Sunnyvale, CA...94087. Thanks

cant beat at&t at 10.69 for basic dialtone- then buy your long distance prepaid card thru sams club or costco

Vonage doesn't -ever- touch your computer. It runs through a router that they provide for free, which your computer also plugs into. If anything, all vonage runs through is your Internet Service Provider as it is a Voice over IP phone service. I think you're crazy and you just need to reboot your computer.

Typical ol' Ma Bell. I use Bell South and pay about $22 a month, including taxes. Of course, I do most of my long distance on my cell (and I have IDT on my land-line) but for basic service, this is pretty cheap.
