Wow what if they have an appointment but want to know a bit about their condition before going to the doctor in order to ask the right questions. You are supposed to have knowledge of your condition before going to a doctor. AND not all of the questions are an emergency, some people are just curious and would like to know what others think! When someone ask about the signs of something like pregnancy maybe she is just anxious and she can't take a test yet. Dumb and lazy....wow that is ignorant. This system is set up so you can share information that you know from experience so you can share it with others. The doctor doesn't need to know if a women is complaining of vomiting in her first trimester. Why should she call!? She will already have an appointment every month as is so how about you just stay out of the pregnancy section and you nor they will have to worry about your attitude! How bout it? Just give it a try.

Just because you are too good to answer questions that you feel are beneath you doesn't mean you get to come on here and call people names. What makes you get up the nerve to come on a public site and just generally call people names. I feel like no question is a dumb question and sometimes people are too embarrassed to ask a doctor or any other person face to face for that matter. Of course a doctor who is supposed to be an expert in their field of practice would have the best advice and medicinal abilities but maybe they want to cover all of their bases. Maybe they want to find out what the general public has to say first? Maybe they're asking for a friend of theirs? If I or some other humble people on this site (not you obviously) want to help others as best as we can then we can and will do that. That is why the smart people at Yahoo! came up with this idea for their millions of customers who use their service to be able to share their ideas and opinions without the fear of being persecuted. You need not post questions like this. I can only imagine the kinds of answers you post to people's questions.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I think a good deal of the time, these people have called the doctor and they're waiting to hear back. In the mean time, they get online and ask questions. I really wish these people would start out their questions like, "I've called my doctor and left a message with the nurse. In the mean time...(insert question." That would make for more friendly answers, I think.
Then again, there are the dumb@sses who are just too stupid to call their doctors.

I think alot of those questions come from younger people on here..I honestly hope that at least but at the same time when you are pregnant sometimes you feel like you are calling the doctor every day to ask some silly question...and sometimes it is nice to hear from other people who have been thru it...just to know you are not the only one...I do get sick of the AM I PREGNANT QUESTIONS THOUGH I MEAN THE ONLY WAY TO KNOW IS TO TAKE A TEST AT HOME OR AT DOCTORS.....

It depend on the question. Sometimes it helps to hear from someone who has actually been pregnant, plus not all pregnancies are the same. In here you can get more personal attention, unlike hurried doctors, from many experienced people. If you are worried about something, of course, ask a doctor.

Doctors appointments cost money. Even for people with insurance there is a co-pay. If you call a doctor with a ?, 90% of the time they tell you, you need to make an appointment and get checked out. If there is someone out there who can answer your ?, who has some knowlege and has been there before, why not ask.

Well, I certainly have noticed a lot of nurses answering questions on this site. What's the point in calling a doctor and waisting his or her valuable time, as well as your own time while waiting on hold for them to pull up your file, when the question isn't that of an urgent nature? If these types of questions are so bothersome to you, perhaps you should answer in another field.

I agree that people need to see the doctor and I tell them that in my answers, but I think that sometimes people are just looking for information and a start in the right direction

Like someone else said on a similar question. They just want to make sure it is important enough or serious enough to call a doctor about.
I just give them my advice and tell them to call their doctor if they have more concerns and log my two points like the rest of us do.

I think that they can't afford a DR appointment. Why then don't they go to a planned parenthood office??
