I also have a Lorikeet. According to my vet it can live 20 years if taken care of properly!

I have a rainbow lorikeet who is at least 18 (that's how long I've had him). I saw a red lory up for adoption on line whose owner had him for THIRTY FOUR years--but that's an anomly. Most books say 15-20 or 20-30 for lories. So 20 is probably a safe number.
I just lost a 12 year old rainbow lorikeet today--a couple of hours ago--who I am grieving for. Just love your bird as long as you have it. Diet is very important for lories so make sure you're feeding LORY food, not parrot food. No seeds!
