Everything is possible, if you allow the supernatural into your cosmology. But God is full of logical contradictions, so he's not even a good supernatural explaination.

As a great physicist once said, "I believe in God as long as you don't try to define to me what 'God' means." Personally, you've got to be pretty geocentric to think that this little planet is the be-all and end-all of the entire universe. We exist in a solar system that sits in the the backwaters of a so-so galaxy among trillions of galaxies that we can see with the Hubble telescope. Gee, they almost fried Gallileo for saying the sun doesn't move around the earth. If these religious leaders had a direct line to God, how could they have been so stupid. Personally, I am sceptical of anybody claiming they have an inside track to the "Creator of the Entire Universe." Yeah, right. I don't doubt that a human called Jesus of Nazareth existed and that they crucified him. They're still "crucifying" people for trying to spread love and happiness. I don't think he had magic powers. The rest is B.S. written by some sand people that thought a plow was high tech.
P.S. With regard to the intelligent design argument below, sometimes an answer looks good but it's still wrong. Study a little physics and quantum mechanics. Your image of the universe "blowing up" into existence is probably because the Big Bang Theory's detractors called it that -- the "Big Bang." It was meant to say the theory is a joke. Too bad the name stuck, because it is misleading. Scientists would love to disprove that theory, any theory. That's how science works. So far, they keep finding evidence tending to prove the theory. I suggest that one at least study some cosmology before advancing ideas like "intelligent design."

I contend there is a God and I don't want your money. TV Preachers however are conmen and do not represent true Christianity.
While there is nothing wrong with a "true" servant of God earning his living from the Gospel - it is a great evil that a man (any man) would gain his wealth from the gospel. A man is worthy of his hire - but anything more than the worth of his hire is fraud and outright sinful.
Such wealthy preachers will have to give an account for all the souls they could have fed and clothed or even sent more missionaries into the field to preach to the lost.
People should give "willingly", not bribed with autographed baseball cards or so called Jesus Oil, etc..., and ministers need to be VERY responsible with the monies they collect to use it for God's work, not on their personal comforts.

Christian's claim Jesus as God's son. Many other religions, ex. Muslim & Judaism, claim only one God, but not Jesus
$$ gain is an interesting topic. Before Jesus was crucified, there were a prominent group of "religious" leaders called the Pharisees. They controlled the synaguogues of the Jewish people, demanded obedience to the law (although they themselves weren't perfect) and they were in it for the money. This ticked Jesus off so he went into the temple and tore up the place. I means this literally. He turned over tables, probably knocking people to the ground, and cracked a whip to get the animals out that they were selling for sacrifeces at high prices. (A record of this story is found in four books of the Bible, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.) Jesus said that they had turned the house of God into a den of robbers. Using God to get money was never a part of his plan.
To answer your question if Christian's make up God to get money: Some misuse and abuse his existence, I have no doubt of this. That, however, is not what God desires and each of those "Christians" will answer to him some day.
There are a lot of selfish people in the church and the rest of world. I think a genuine Christian is sometimes hard to find, but they are out there. You'll know when you meet one, because they compare to no one else. I'm a serious Christian, but have my struggles, my questions, and days when I look just like the rest of the world.

Consider this solar system as a whole. Everything works in accord to give us day and night, summer and winter, spring time and autumn. There is a balance to nature that keeps everything going and gives us a place that is the only known place in the universe that is inhabitable. Now consider your wrist watch. It has hundreds of moving parts that work together seamlessly to keep time, it is obvious that this wrist watch was made by intelligent design. You would laugh at me if I told you that I could make a wrist watch for you by placing all the pieces into a given space and then blowing them up with a stick of dynamite. Yet atheistic and humanistic scientists ask us to believe the THEORY that nature, in all it's complexity, was blown into existence. I'm sorry, but given the choice between intelligent design and a big explosive accident I am going to have to go with intelligent design. If you come to the same conclusion then you have to decide what that means for you. If there is a design, then what is the design for you?

Fraud is perpetrated by people all the time, including Christians. That does not change the truth about God's existence, though. Those who choose to use the name of God for monetary gain must be exposed for who they are: "frauds". Their acts run counter to the very teachings of Christ, therefore must be disavowed. The failings of these "supposed" believers doe not, in any way, invalidate the reality of God's existence. The genuine basis for the truth is the word of God found in the Bible, not the fraudulent acts of men masquerading as followers of Christ. It is important to not to confuse the reality of God with the sad reality of man's sinful nature.

yes. there is a great one, an all knowing , loving God. a lot of the beliefs of the church were invented to protect the church. God is true pure love. HE IS.... every religion has it's own set of beliefs that have been handed down to offspring thru time. it is up to each individual to find his or her own path that feels right. i believe that God will guide each and every one to their place with him. we are all one in his eyes it's just that some tend to go a different way. i believe the church decided for it's congregation what should be allowed to be told. i believe they left out a lot of important details about Yehsuah and Mary. do a little research and see what you come up with. you could be surprised. blessed be.

Of course I cannot prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt to someone who isn't willing to believe. I acknowledge that there is a theoretical possibility that He does not exist.
However that possibility is so improbable that I can't entertain it seriously.
I base my life on God being Real. And I see the results of that decision in my life. And it isn't about money. It's about love and relationship and healing.
