Anyone can travel, handicapped included and will NEVER be charged additional for any services provided. When you make the reservations or at check in just advise the agent that she is in a wheel chair and what her capabilities or disabilites are....if she can walk at all, needs full assistance getting to her seat or be carried on etc. There is no additional cost for being handicapped or needing special services. When she arrives or makes a connection, there will be either someone who meets the flight and takes her to her connection or to baggage claim. At most airports someone can go to the gate with her until her flight leaves and meet her at her arrival, it varies by airport.

If you are the one taking her to the airport, go to the ticket counter and check in. Advise the agent that she is in a wheel chair and what her disability is. Can she walk at all? Short or long distances? Does she need assistance walking to her seat or can she not walk at all?? If the airplane is a smaller aircraft or requires boarding by stairs, can she walk up stairs?? Is she able to transfer herself from the wheel chair to an aisle chair if she can not walk down the aisle??

These are the basic questions an agent will ask you. Always ask to take her to the gate. Most airports will let you beyond security with a pass. Just have your valid ID such as a drivers liscense available. One person is allowed to go to the gate. When you get to the gate, check in at the gate when they open for pre-flight. Although they will be able to pull up the list of handicapped passengers if the reservation is documented at the ticket counter, just let them know who she is and sit close to the boarding door. She will be pre-boarded and the agents will assist her on and off the aircraft. If she requires additional assistance, such as being a full carry on, they will take care of that as well. You will say your good-bye's in the gate area and you are not allowed beyond the boarding door.

Once she arrives at her transfer or connection point and destination there will be someone waiting for her, either an airline agent or someone with the service the airport hires for escorting passengers. They will take her to her connection gate and again, the agents working the flight will assist her on and off of the aircraft.

Should she require Oxygen in flight, you will need to arrange that well in advanced and there are fee's to pay. She can not bring her own onboard. Call the airline and they will set that up for you. (That is just FYI)

When she arrives at the destination, Mexico may be different, but they may be able to get a pass to go beyond security to meet her at the gate. Just explain that she is elderly and disabled. But it varies by airport and country, but its always worth asking. Tell the person to arrive well before the flight is scheduled to arrive so that they have time to check in at the ticket counter and get through security.

If she does not speak or understand english, advise the ticket agent and they will be sure that someone who speaks Spanish will be meeting her at ther connection point. (That is just FYI as well, not assuming)

Request the bulkhead seat. These are reserved for handicapped passengers and it is the first row on in coach on the aircraft. That way she will not have far to walk. Anyone seated in the bulkhead seat who is not handicapped can and will be moved to acommidate a passenger with needs. Just be advised that the bulk head seats are narrower because the arm rests are fused in and have solid sides unlike regular seats that just have an arm rest that can go up and down. So, if she is a "fluffy" grandma, ask for a seat as close to the front as possible when you make the reservations.

You can request this provider while you are making the reservations for her. Be certain and inform the agent that she is illiterate so nobody is determined by her following written directions. Also inform the agent what language(s) she speaks. Agents will guide her at connections. They will meet her flights and take her to her subsequent flight and provide her some thing help that she demands. Regards, Dan

any one of us can travel to different countries if we want to, we just have to be obey or be disciplined enough to follow certain guidelines and rules...it's for our convenience, safety...well, if you need to know a lot more information, requirements needed & so on, you have to inquire either to phone or in personal communication to their front desk personnel or customer service support staff and they will be gladly assist you on everything you need to know...you just have to be patient & the right (polite) approach to them--- btw, we should have our own or let any of our relatives be accompanied by some close family esp. when travelling in an out of town country...good luck--
