Dogs and cats eat grass because they are sick is a partial truism. Dogs and cats will often eat grass if they have indigestion. The grass causes them to vomit and then they feel better. But there are animals that eat grass out of habit and many pets are smart enough to eat grass to get the taste of something bad out of their mouths, using the grass as a mouthwash of sorts!

Most ppl seem to be answering that its becuase the cat is sick, and this can be true. Grass does help them when they have an upset stomach. However, you can just buy grass for your cat to eat at Petco. Some cats really like eating grass. I'm not sure why but it doesnt always mean they are sick. I have a cat that everytime I take her for a walk, she eats grass but doesnt puke... she just likes it.

Animals tend to eat grass when they want to make themselves get sick, to relieve that ill feeling. Mine does this every now and again, but not constantly. They also do get some minerals from grass. I found that switching my cats to a food for indoor cats (mine are in and out) that have greens in it, has greatly reduced their desire to eat the lawn. I would be more worried about the fertlizers and such on the lawn, than the actual grass it's self.

a lot of cats eat grass because their stomach is upset. eating the grass settles it.
if you have a cat that eats grass and still throws up, it is because they were trying to settle their stomach but they have a hormone imbalance that does not allow them to process it like other cats.

Because she has an uneasy for nervous stomac. It's prefectly normal, some dogs do the same thing.
Purina is now putting grass in cat food and calling it "indoor cat food".

Cats eat grass when their stomachs are upset, but in most cases it is probably worms or parasites....It would be best to see a vet if it continues.
