Have a cash bar instead. Or skip the alcohol and toast with sparkling juice.

You have to understand that his family have no obligation of paying for the alcohol, nor you have any bussines on appoiting this financial obligation upon them. You could ask for their help or wait until they offer, but you cannot expect them to or rely on this.

Let him bring the issue to his folks on his own, so there will be no uncomfortable situation for you or them. You could accept help in other areas and If they offer their help fine, but you cannot volunteer your future in-laws to spend their cash to buy you booze.

Good luck.

just ask. the worse they could say is no.

Or you could ask them to pay for the people they are inviting. it might actually help a little more.

my parents are paying the $44 per person on their half of the guest list. its working out MUCH better.

Tell her that you don't know if you can afford alcohol for the reception...if she doesn't offer, then you're out of luck.

He should talk to them by himself and not bring you into it. If they don't want to, though, you should'n't hold it against them.
