that's only natural.. they were the first one to steal ur heart and the first one u expierenced those feelings with, it doesnt mean they are ur true love just ur first love they will always hold a special place in ur heart..memories are a beautiful thing they are to be treasured not buried...

I was going through the exact same thing. It was three years before I learned to finally let him go. Even though I wasn't ready, I decided to get with another guy, and he definitely helped me put my focus off my old boyfriend. Then it came to the point where I broke up with my recent boyfriend, and had the decision to choose between my first love, or my recent ex-boyfriend. Obviously, you would think that I would choose my first love, since I've been waiting for him for three years. But as I came to decision time, I realized that both of us had transformed to different people during the three years, and that I love my recent boyfriend a lot more than I had thought.

you cant let go of your first love simply cause that is all you know especially if you two were together for a long time. You know what your 1st. love will always be in the back of all your memories, their will be things in life that will reminder of her and the memory will be so vivid that you feel like it happen all over again.
And you know what else even if you find someone else that makes you happy the way she did or even better your first true love will still sit at the back of your thoughts.

Its really hard to let go of your first love,theres always going to be a part of you that still loves her no matter what happens. But u have to remember life goes on and u are going to have to face these things. Just because you arent dating her anymore then why cant u still be friends? you are going to have to decide whether you want to move on in life and experience new things, new people, or just keep dwelling about her the rest of your life! Its okay still to think about her just make sure you are not in love with her..because you know u cant have her!......its your choice

It has been over 30 years for me and I still can't let go. Why: Because I'm still very much in love with him and as it turns out, he is still in love with me. The first love is very special, no expectations and nothing to compare it to. It is perfect! (btw, we have now been back in contact for almost a year, it's wonderful!)

I think about my first love sometimes also. It has been 12 years since we broke up but I still think about her from time to time. I see her dad once in a while by moms house as a crossing guard. He doesnt reconize me because it has been so long. He was kinda the reason her and I broke up. She broke up with me because at the time I had no worry about my future and he kinda put it in her head that I was going no where. Well HE WAS WRONG!!!! I have a good job with job security and a pension and 401k when I retire. Now who looks good. Excuse me while I brush my shoulder off.

You cant stop thinking about her because she was your first love and maybe your just not ready to let her go.Everything will change when you meet another girl and fall in love with her but you will always have a place for your first love in your heart.

She's your first love and you just can't move on. It's that you dont want to, it's just that you dont know how. It's cool that you still talk and want to be friends but at some point of time you have to learn to move on unless she wants you back then there could be a possibility that you will be back together.

First loves are special, but they just almost never last. And everyone thinks about them now and then. Nice memories, but not much more in the total scope of things. Good luck

Usually people can't let go of their first loves...but you have to move on. You can't let go of her because she was your first and all...there's also a chance you still love her too...
