It is collected in the underground aquifers but it takes time for the rain to seep through to these. The denseness of the buildings and roads does not help as this causes the water to stay on the surface rather than drain through the soil. When we have a down poor of rain so much water is flowing that most of it has to be drained into the river otherwise the city would flood.

That sounds like a sensible suggestion. So it will be ignored. You will want politicians to make sense next. What London needs is more tourism like the Olympics - so Ken can get more money in with his congestion charge. Twin London with somewhere warm and exotic - so all the London councillors can have a free holiday. Pay people in London double what everyone else gets to force up property prices and make London really rich for the rich and force out those bloody nuisance poor people. If you don't have at least a million you shouldn't be allowed to live in London - ask Gordon Brown!

Though much of the rainwater is collected, much of it is polluted and must be filtered or is sent out for other uses.
