My husband and I have decided to move back to our home state. I love my daycare children and parents dearly. I don't want everyone to leave all at once. We have just put the wheels in motion. We have set the date for putting the house on the market, the summer of next year. By that time, most of my children will be at least two.

As a former Preschool Teacher I would let them know of your prospective plans and assure them you'll give them ample notice when they need to find a new daycare. Also have, at the time of the notice, some suggestions of places they can check out. 2 years is a long time away, a lot could change.

I'd tell them now. It's hard to find good day cares. The parents will want time to look for a new daycare for their child/children. They need time to research new places, get references, etc. I'm sure you won't lose all your children immediately. After all, it sounds like you have a wonderful thing going with great kids and parents. You need to open a new daycare in your home state after you move. You sound like a very caring person.

You should just say sorry for having to close it, but also add some other daycares in the area in case they still need one.

Well, you've got plenty of time to let them know, but give them a good few months notice. I wouldn't tell them TOO early, because you don't want them all switching right now, leaving you without any work.

I would tell them immediately. It is such a struggle to find good childcare and I think as much advance notice as possible with make it much easier for the parents you work with.
