I want to be a minister. Is that too much to ask?

Not God but the old people who would join your congregation.. you should look into prison ministry.

I hope you're joking about being turned away from the ministry because of your tattoos, I would think that would be quite a visible testimony (then again it might depend on what your tattoos are OF! :) God loves you regardless of your past/present. Maybe you just need to look into a different seminary.

Worse comes to worse, become the guy from DC Talk's "Jesus Freak" song. You know:

*I saw a man with tat on his big fat belly
It wiggled around like marmalade jelly
It took me a while to catch what it said
Cause I had to match the rhythm
Of his belly with my head
'Jesus Saves' is what it raved in a typical tattoo green
He stood on a box in the middle of the city
And claimed he had a dream*

Of course I'm also assuming you want to be a Christian minister. Anyway, best wishes and God bless! :)

The Bible says your body is the temple of God. The church didn't want to be hypocrites. If they accepted you as their Pastor, then that is what they would be. Maybe God doesn't want you to be in the pastoral ministry. Try just being a godly person and serve him through this trial. God can use you no matter what man says or does!!! Let Him control your life and all will turn out good. Maybe you should try to get into the prison ministry.

Isn't there a way to get tatoos removed???

No offense, but maybe you should consider getting them removed. Maybe not all of them. Just the visible ones!

No dear, it is not your body that matters to God, but your Soul. It is the people involved in the ministery that are being judgmental. I know hypocritical.

Think of it this way, when a door closes, another opens. It just is meant that you are meant to be somewhere else where you are wanted and accepted for who you are and what you have to offer from your heart. Would you want to learn from those who are judgmental like that (those in the ministery that rejec tyou)? I mean think about it.

No God is not prejudice and he loves you...tats and all!

Your tats shouldn't be the issue.

We (my church-non denomination) have an Usher Captain and Greeter Captain that have tats. I don't know how much of their bodies are covered ((and it's none of my business))...but they have them up and down their arms. They usually wears 3/4 or long sleeves. However, I've seen them in short sleeves.

Don't give up on being a minister. God doesn't call the qualified, he qualifies the called.

Grace to you and God Bless!

It's true that that is totally bogus, but it's also true that tattoo's scare a lot of people, so the church might have simply been worried about losing members due to a scary minister. Tattoo's don't scare me usually, since 95% of the people at Pacific Coast Martial arts are absolutely covered in them in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class so i've gotten used to them, but most poeple are shocked to see that much ink on one person at one time.

God wasn't prejudice, but man was, is and forever will be. Many, many cultures believe tattoos and spirituality go hand in hand, i.e. Native Americans. No, I don't think it's fair you should be judged at all for having tattoos. What does being inked and loving your religion have to do in common in this society? Absolutely nothing. But there's always those judgemental idiots that say otherwise. Keep fighting for what you believe!

Why is it that people keep blaming GOD for the actions of man. You were turned down by people, blame them. God gave you free will, the will to choose. I would suggest you choose to stop blaming him for mistakes human make. The answer is also yes GOD was prejudice. He destroyed S & G, Wiped out the wolrd by flood, the only thing around either time were people, and animals. I would say he's prejudice against anyone and anything that does not follow is teaching to the LETTER.

Some churches don't like the face of the church (ministers) to have visible tattoos. God doesn't care though, if you want to serve, you are doing the will of God. You need to find a different church, that won't judge you. Most churches want you to be a part of their church for a while first, that way they can get to know you, and understand your convictions, and love for lost souls.

There really is a place for ministry for you, and I hope you find it.

A minister is someone who helps others. Tatoos have nothing to do with the person you are inside. If you have a heart that wants to help others, just do it. You don't need to be recognized by a "church" to do that. Find a place or some people who see you for who you are and can look past the outward appearance. remember, God looks at your heart!!
