i dont think there is a life span, it will just keep getting bigger and bigger. when i was in wrestling in high school i got numerous ringworm. it was horrible. but there is over the counter medicine that worked just fine. be sure they dont touch it (use band aid to cover) because it can easily spread. Tinactin did nothing for me, i tried for months thinking it would get better, but nothing.... i actually used something that started with an M (sorry it has been awhile) and it worked very fast. I know it is very popular and you can get it at any drug store.... hope this helped

Ringworm, like others said is not a worm it's a fungus. It is athletes foot anywhere other than on the feet.

Use Lamisil, Lotramin, etc. or if it's really bad go to the doctor for an RX for something braod spectrum like Spornox. I woldn't know if it's safe for a 5 year old though check with you Dr.

You'll need to put something on it. It'll clear up in a while.

Exactly what was said before... use something like what you'd use on Athlete's foot. My sister got ringworm from a cat and was using ointment for Athlete's foot to treat it; it works great.

BTW, ringworm is a fungus, not an actual worm. ;)

My friend just got ringworm from one of the kids at the daycare she works at. Her doctor told her to use cream she was given for 4 weeks. check with your doctor if you are still concerned.

The lifespan depends on the treatment. Try iodine. It works very well...within a few days.

Fungal infections sometimes takes 1 month or longer to heal. You have to be very patient with the treatment.

I had to use a fungicide on my kids when they were younger...like for athlete's foot!
