Fundamentalists (self-proclaimed "Bible Christians") must take the Bible as literal truth because that belief is the foundation of their ideology. If it can be shown that the Bible is not the sole word of God, or that the Bible contains untruths or errors, then their entire ideology and movement collapses.

The Bible does not say the earth was created in seven days. Genesis 1:1 reads: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The universe, including earth, was created "in the beginning" which could have been 10 billion years ago. With verse two begins the description of the PREPARATION of earth for habitation.

There are people much smarter then us who have studied this subject. Some say the 7 days were 7 actual days counted the same way we count them today. Others can show how the 7 days could be solar days, system days or even galactic days. It could have been 1 day was the time the earth revolved around the sun. I am not sure how long the galactic day is, but it must be millions of years for our set of planets to make it around the center of the galaxy.

God has no limitations. When He says he does something in seven days, that's is what He means. He can do so many amazing things. If you really sit and ponder everything on this earth, the trees, when the sun goes down, how the ocean moves, a baby being formed, you will see that there is an awesome creator and He can do anything!!! He is so amazing!
That leads to how He can send His son to walk the earth and then after He died on the cross for all of our sins, He can raise up to heaven! Again I will say, He is so amazing!

The bible is truth it has stood the test of time.. The only way to know that for sure is to study it out.. The longest it could have been is a thousand years.. The reason for that is because it say in the bible a day to him is like a thousand years..

Why would it say 7 days then. It would say a million years if it meant a million years, so as it did not say a million years it means 7 days as that is what it says.

It is idiotic to take the words of the bible literally. Much the same as it would be to read the stories of ancient greek and roman mythology and say they are a hirtorical record. Suffice it to say, the bible is christian mythology, parables intended to teach lessons, nothing more.

"A thousand years in god's eyes, is as an evening gone by" simply means that God ages differently from mankind.
Which begs the question does God age/can or will he grow old?
God is ancient but can't grow old.
"God is a spirit, and they that worship him must worship Him in spirit and in truth."
About creation, it took six (6) days (man's time), not seven.

could be..but then again God is very powerful, He couldve done it in one second, so why not believe in seven days..actually six?
and if that were so(a day being million years) then all those who lived up to 900yrs of age were 900000000000000000000.....???

Exactly, these 10,000 people don't buy creationism and they are all clergy members!:

Even the archbishop of canterbury doesn't think so either.
