You have a second degree burn. These types of burns injure the first and second layers of skin. The skin around the burn turns white (blanches) when pressed, then turns back to red. The burn is moist and painful with blistering and swelling that usually lasts for at least 48 hours.
1) Use cool cloths on sunburned areas.
2) Take frequent cool showers or baths.
3) Apply soothing lotions that contain aloe vera to sunburned areas. Topical steroids (such as 1% hydrocortisone cream) may also help with sunburn pain and swelling.
With all burns, it is important to watch for and seek treatment for any signs of infection.

If you are blistering - you may have a second degree burn, which will require medical attention. The reason it is not getting better and swelling is because it needs to be taken care of by a Dr. If you continue to try to treat it at home, you may end up with infection and a hospital stay - not to mention terrible scars. Call to get an appointment ASAP
In the meanwhile, until your appointment - aloe vera is best. It won't help a whole bunch, but may give you some relief. Also, there are aloe vera preparations with lidocane or benzocaine. There are "numbing" agents, to temporarily relieve pain.
Remember - get an appt with a Dr ASAP (a dermatologist may be best)
Good Luck to you and I hope you feel better soon!

Being a red hair, fair skin lady I have had my share of sunburns, mostly as a kid. The very best remedy for me was to soak in a tub of 20 tea bags and cool water for about 10 minutes(just enough water to cover your legs), get out, pat dry and then take some cuttings from an "aloe vera plant" and slather the goo over the burn gently. AWWWWWW...what relief and it heals so much faster too!
I keep and Aloe Vera plant in my kitchen window for cuts and burns, over stitches, stings & wounds of any king. It is a natural healing product.

well, it depends on what degree of sunburn. If you have blisters, or just your every day sunburn, put aloe Vera on it, that will make it feel tons better! But if it goes all the way down into your muscles, go see your doctor!

Like Leith C said, most of the so-called "persecution" of Christians (particularly in this forum) is in response to unwelcome preaching -- not really persecution, more like standing up to religious bullying. The worse I usually get is just the rare email from someone trying to convert me. Usually it just leads to some fun, but largely unproductive dialog. I haven't gotten one of those in a while, though. And, one time when I was a young Pagan living at home, I went into the woods behind my house to burn some sage and do a short ritual. Somebody saw me, and called the cops on me, so I had to explain myself to a cop on my front lawn with my parents freaking out in the house. I don't think of that as mistreatment, so much as a misunderstanding. I mean, if you didn't know anything about Paganism or Wicca (and I was Wiccan at the time) and you saw someone in the woods chanting, burning something, and waving a dagger around, what would you think? But, as soon as I explained myself, the cops just rolled their eyes and walked away, with little more than a "burn it at home next time."

Going to the DR may not be a bad idea. I had a bad steam burn on my hand and found the only way to ease the pain was to keep it in cool or ice water for 12 hours. A couple beers helped too. I burned it on a Saturday. On Monday I went to my DR and got a script for "Silvadene" (not sure about the spelling). Its a high powered topical antibiotic often used to treat burns to keep them from getting infected.
For scarring use Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Vitamin E Scar Serum
Sometimes you can find it at Wal-Mart or online at:

Get some aloe vera, buy a plant at a nursery if you have to, do it today. Keep the burn wet with the plant juice. The real treatment is to learn a major lesson and not get sunburnt again, ever. Happy peeling!
