I have seen where security was needed. A student brought in a weapon to hurt someone and I feel that if that school ( Middle ) did not have security someone would have be hurt that day.

I can answer this question with an authoritative YES IT IS NEEDED!!!! My father was a Principal at a Middle School. (some still call it a Jr. High School)
He used to tell me stories about the things they had to confiscate from students. I was amazed at the things he told me. There was this one kid that made himself a home-made flame thrower! I will not go into details as how he built it, because I would not want to place an idea in anybody's head, Lets just say it was rather elaborate, and it had the potential to do some real damage had they not found out about it.
I remember attending that very same middle school many years ago. It was a completely different place back then. The doors leading outside were always open, we did not have kids bringing weapons of mass destruction to class, but now, they have to keep all of the doors locked from the inside, and any visitor to the school must be "buzzed" into the building, then they are never out of the watch-full eye of the security cameras.
Its a changing world, and it is a shame that the kids of today can not feel completely safe, and comfortable in their schools. I would not even want to think how bad things would be with out School Security.

Yes! Children these days rely on weapons to solve their problems with other people and that is just sad! We either need more School Sercurity or harsher punishment laws!!

Absolutely, all schools need an adequate security plan. That's a given. Your real question should be "What makes an adequate school security plan?"
