As I was about to take a bite out of the main course, they tell me it's dog- pit bull to be exact. I didn't want to be rude. Pit Bulls are ugly and I was chased by one once, so I ate it, and it wasn't bad. The problem is they want me to go back next week for poodle with peas and carrots. I don't know what to do. I already ate pit bull, so how can I tell them I don't eat dog? Besides I have a pet poodle and don't feel much like eating poodle. What if I like it and I start looking at my dog different? What's the proper etiquette to follow in this type of situation. Should I just eat the poodle?

Don't be foolish.
Untill you have personally been to Korea, don't assume anything.
It may have been pit-bull, but not poodle. Poodles are far too expencive, and generally Koreans strive for money more than anything else. But then again, who doesnt?

Its like this, go to a tattoo parlor and as for a Japanese symbol put on you, and the artist doing it is Japanese. You think, wow, thats pretty good, it'll be exactly what I want to to say. Sad to say, I know at least 6 people who now have "Drunk American" tattoed on their shoulder.
There just pulling your leg. Dont worry about it.

I know for a fact this is not a true story. The only time dog is eaten in Korea is in a dish called Boshintang, which is a soup. And they wouldn't eat pit bull, it's too tough.

Sounds to me like you have already looked at your poodle with hungry eyes. Many people all over the world eat whats available to them. As a hunter and a survivalist I have eaten many different kinds of animals including skunk. If the dish is tasty to you eat it.people don't like alot of foods but until you try it you will never know. You say they are your friends well I am sure that if you tried it and said that you didn't like it they would respect your honesty after all you already ate dog meat with them don't disrespect them because you have a poodle you already thought of eating. If you enjoy their dishes then eat. sounds to me like they are good cooks. Besides I know Asian people who eat cats and it has cut down on the stray cat problems in our city. Bon Appettie

This is an extremely suspicious account of a possibly fictitious event. I'm trying to assess why you would post something of this nature and for what purpose.
I can only comment that there is a difference between comedy and ethnic cruelty. I hope this isn't an inept attempt at a hate statement. I think you need to reassess your intentions here or pull the question.

It some countrys the do eat dog & cat but is the same as here eating, deer, elk, snake and so on. Most are farm raised. In the USA it is no legle to eat dog. So unless they went out and stole a dog I do not think that you ate dog.

Are you serious? That sounds like a joke. I'm Korean, and I have never met Koreans who eat dog in this country. Even in Korea, dogs raised as pets are never eaten. I don't know where they could be getting dog to eat in this country.

Just because it's not taboo to eat dog in Korea, a country that doesn't raise much cattle, doesn't mean that they actually prefer dog to other meats that are easily available and cheaper, here. Your story is absurd.

i don't understand if there's a cultural reason behind her doing this, yet as a typical dinner celebration hostess, i visit actual commiserate with you. I actually have a particular human being in my circle who insists on doing this (and that i understand it really isn't any longer cultural for her; except you may count number "insists on having junk nutrition" subculture. besides, i prefer to serve a series menu-I plan for days to make effective all my nutrition products supplement eachother and serve properly mutually, with various cooking cases so all of them come out warm at the same time, etc...at the same time as my pal insists on bringing different issues, it insults me quite. a million, it throws off the stability of my meal and would not frequently bypass properly with what i'm having (in my thoughts) and a couple of, it really is style of of showboating to attempt this on your hostess. So my wager is, because you've tried telling her no longer to do it and he or she did not use her subculture as an excuse, it probable has better to do with merely who desire her personal nutrition. Does she eat what you cooked or in reality the area of the meal she presented? some human beings's moms let them have their personal separate meal. that's a habit they are so used to, on a similar time as adults they don't imagine they are obligated to eat what some thing else of the table is eating.

honesty is the absolute best policy...tell them very politely that you don't feel comfortable eating poodle...they will understand that you're just culturally different. If they're really your friends, they won't be offended.
