In the U S it is the brown headed cowbird and the bronzed cowbird. Before cows they were called buffalo birds. They followed the buffalo heards on the plains. Because they did that they evolved the habit of laying their eggs in other birds nests so they would not be stuck in one place. In Europe the cuckoos also do that. But the two species of cuckoos in the U S, the yellow billed cuckoo and the black billed cuckoo do not. They incubate their own eggs.

Not many.

In the United states, there are two: the bronze cowbird and the brown-headed cowbird.

Back in the day, these birds fed off the insects that bison kicked up on their migrations; because these animals were always moving, cowbirds could not stop and nest or they would lose their source of food. They developed the reproductive strategy of laying eggs in the nests of other birds, such as orioles. When the bison were killed and prevented from migrating, the cowbirds settled for the roaming bands of cattle that cowboys herded.

In Europe there is the cuckoo (the cucoos here in the US raise their own nestlings). I am unfamiliar with their reproductive evolution, but there is one major difference between them and the cowbirds: cuckoos will hatch early and push the eggs of the parents out of the nest. Cowbirds do not, and are raised alongside the young of the host species.

I dont know which birds do that but I have seen the shows on discovery channel a few times. I also saw one who showed a lizard lays its eggs in a nest and when the babies hatch they eat the parent birds!
