I think farting is ALWAYS funny...the more inappropriate the place, the funnier:
Church
Office cube
Boardroom
dinner party
Etc.

one time i was wrestling with my girlfriend and we landed wierd and she was a bout to say "get your *** outta my face" and i farted when she opened her mouth
it was funny as crap (bad pun)

I played in the church orchestra so I didn't hear it but...
My old church was a huge church and we had something called prayer time where a pastor would pray for about 3-5 minutes for different things and at the beginning he would say 'Let us pray' and that meant for everybody to bow their heads or at least close their eyes. As soon as everyone did an old woman sitting beside my family in the congregation (bless her heart she probably couldn't control it) emitted the loudest, longest fart possible during one of the quietest parts of the service.
I thought it was funny because she waited until everyone closed there eyes as if that would keep them from knowing who did it.

Hah yeah- When my brother and I were little we were going to church and we had to stop to bless ourselves with Holy water, there was an old man there who was bending over to bless him self and my brother was lined up behind him and as the old man was straightening up he hella farted in my brothers face. It was hella loud but for some reason the only people who were laughing were me and my brother (after regaining his composure from that stunning blow)

Yes, but then Church in itself is funny. I don't mean that in a nasty way, what I mean is that it is supposed to be so serious, so you just can't help but laugh. It's a nerve thing you see!!
