you can do a total body warm up program in about 20 minutes. the best way is to work the things that are the farthest away from the heart, and move your way towards the heart. that gets the blood flowing and you'll limber up quickly. you'll also feel less stress when you work the major muscle groups.
rotate your ankles, do squats with your legs together, then apart. stretch your arms. rotate the shoulders, do stretches for your back, then work your hips and abs, and last the chest.

It really depends on what you're warming up for: you should choose a warm-up that targets muscles you'll be using in more strenuous exercise and that will get your heart pumping. If you'll be running, you could (and should) stretch (of course), jog/jog in place, do jumping jacks, or if you'll be running on a treadmill you could start by using a low-impact cardio machine at a relatively low level (like the eliptical machine). If you'll be swimming, stretching, jogging and short sprints are a good way to warm up + add to your training.

During work-outs I tend to stretch for about 5-mins and after that I try to make atleast 60+ push ups so that I could work the sweat out.

Jogging or jumping jacks, I'm against stretching because some people over-stretch. Even lifting light weights.
