Like all Betas, it has risks. If you are running a 64 bit system (Athlon 64 etc) it's worth a shot just to experience 64 bit computing. Get the Beta 2 version after joining the Windows Feedback Panel and you will get the final release FREE!
DO NOT DO THIS ON A MISSION CRITICAL COMPUTER such as the one you use for business.

That depends on the specs of your current PC. You are going to need at least 2GB of memory in order to run Vista well. Not to mention all of the other requirements like up to 15GB of hard drive space, a dedicated graphics card with at least 128MB of memory and a processor in the 1.5GHz+ area.
That being said, I do think that it is worth the upgrade because it offers upgraded security features and a very cool 3D GUI. If you can do without that then you will be able to run Vista with just the Aero interface and turn Aero glass off.

If U talk about Vista in a developers point of view it uses Win-FX model. In Windows XP U use Win32 API.If u are implementing a solution to a normal client who has to get his work done not subjective to Security and Graphics u can continue with XP.If ur Client is Concerned About Security,Concerned about ultimate GUI interface with Security then u can move to Win-FX model i.e Vista. Then ur new programming Framework will be .Net 3.0.Hope all Windows users are going to love it.To a common man he can continue with windows XP i.e more than sufficient. But If windows stop supporting windowsXP don't think even for a second switch to Linux then start learning it then U are a free bird.I knew most of the people use Right hand to do their work 'cause they always use it well and it is comfortable for them but they never use Left hand so it is not comfortable unless we configure our brain to use Left hand well, then it is very flexible right.Hope U got the answer.

I wouldn't jump the gun just yet to get Vista. XP works just fine and sometimes the new release have bugs. Look at what happened with ME when it came out. I'd wait before buying.

It looks pretty cool!!!! It has bunches of new utilities, and it looks cool!!! The new video extentions help make it look cool!!!! Plus I sudgest getting it in 64 bit and get a new 64 bit system to run it so it runs bettter. Also it comes with the new version of Direct X which is only supported on vista and some games will require it. OH, and IT LOOKS COOL!

Please don't to a upgrade since Vista is still in Beta. I would suggest you install it in seperate partition.
The vista cost will be available when the Full version is released to customers during early 2007.

It's not gonna be worth upgrading until at least 6 months after it has been release. Until then it will be full of bugs.
