It's the use of pictures or photographs to tell or describe a story in the media (newspapers, magazines, etc). It is usually still pictures but now with the popularity and technology of the Internet, moving pictures are also becoming more popular in this field. The pictures usually accompany an actual news story. Here are some examples of photojournalism:

Photojournalism is simply this:

Using a photo(s) to tell a story without altering the subjects or creating a posed atmosphere.

It was orginally used by editorial and sports photographers but was adopted into many other types of photography (very big in wedding photography right now).

Photojournalism is the branch of photography where you use images, by themselves or with text, to tell a story. Subject matter and situations are not posed or altered in any fashion. It should also be objective rather than deliberatly taken in a way intended to influence the opinion of the viewer.
