well , 1 wouldnt work . a dog would just bite your hand , 2 wouldnt either , you wouldnt think to try to stand on the dog , (this is a big attacking dog) not a little pomeranian , in which case you would end up on the ground and with more bityes taken out of you . a choke hold , unlikly, the dog would be close to your face , you wouldnt want that....... your best bet is to go indoors somewhere to get away from it , rather than attack back . if it is alredy biting you i would scream for help and find a wall and try to pin the dog aggenst the wall . then get the dog on its back . holding its head down so it couldnt bite you .

First, let me say that self-defense is not about being cruel to animals - it's about saving your butt or your kids or your own dog from a loose and vicious dog.
Depends on the dog that's attacking you. If it's a Pit Bull, you can forget about choking it - the neck muscles are much too strong. Punching a really tough dog in the face won't even slow him down. Kicking is best, because getting bit in the leg does a lot less damage than being bit in the hand or the arm. Best of all is whack him with whatever is handy - a garbage can lid, an umbrella or cane, a briefcase. You can even use your coat - if he's playing tug-of-war with it, he can't be biting YOU! Drag the dog around until you see an escape - jump a fence, climb a tree, get in a car, etc.

#1 definately. Punching it in the face or in the body makes it scared of you. You are in control then. You'd look like an idiot trying to stomp a big dog on it's back and if you put it in a choke hold, it'll get out of it eventually and come after you again, plus, I wouldn't want to get close enough to put it in a choke hold!!

If you're able to stomp on his back, you are not in sufficient danger to use such force on him. He can't have you at too much of a disadvantage if you are able to perform that act, so don't plan on using it in an attack situation.
If it doesn't have a hold of you, kick it in the throat. If you can get him down on the ground, grab one forelimb and the opposite rear leg and hold them toward the ground. This will keep the dog from getting back on its feet.
If it has a hold on your arm and won't let go, the best thing to do is to push your arm back further into his mouth, and then put your other hand behind his head, forcing your arm back far enough into his mouth that you are restricting his breathing. Given a choice between continuing the attack and continuing to breathe, generally, any dog who doesn't have rabies will opt for breathing.
If you are on the ground, try to get face-down so it can't get your face, throat or internal organs. That is not a good position from which to defend yourself, but you have less at risk that way.
Try to keep an eye on him and grab a back leg as soon as the opportunity presents itself. Then you'll have him on the ground. At that point, refer to my second paragraph.
I hope you never have to use this information!

I'd say none of the above. If you're quicker than the dog then maybe. But you can't run either. I'd bark back. Show them who's boss. Most time's it works. Also if they do bite you on the hand no matter how much it hurts, if you can grab their bottom jaw, you will control them. Dogs don't like that at all. They will lose control right away because they will try to get away from you. Then maybe in that instance you can smacks it's muzzle to death or kick it, etc... Hope you don't have to run into this situation because most people run.

punching on the nose would be good, but most ppl are not fast enough. the dogs jaws tend to move faster. so best method is if u know they are attacking, wait for a good kick to the head or body, then grab a choke hold if it bites u on the hand, and punch its face until it lets go.
later you can bite its ear off like Mike Tyson... lol
try not to maim it or anything...poor doggy...

You punch it in the face, right on the nose, this is the most sensitive part of the face and should hurt the dog enough to make it back off. I learned this defense about bears too. If you got punched in the face you would back off too right?

Your partially correct with the chock hold but the best way is to get your arm around the neck and press the dog aginst your body not allowin it to move this gives you the control a straight choke hold and the dog can still move on you

I have always been told that the most sensitive part to the dog is its muzzle. But when being attacked by a dog very load noises are your first method of deffence, then punching the dog in the muzzle

Lets be real. Picture a dog attacking you. TEETH are the immediate threat or danger and you would be hitting or slapping this dog in the face to get these teeth away. Dont try this at home.
