I had a miscarriage a few weeks back and the doctors just saw me yesterday. They won't do a D&C b/c they didn't want to go through unnescessary procedure when I hadn't taken a preg test before the miscarriage. But my doctor admitted I had a miscarriage. So anyway, I have a massive infection in my ovaries and I have to take a bunch of pills everyday that make me extremely nauseous, and if they don't work in a few days, he's putting me in a room with IV antibiotics, and if that doesn't work, they're doing sugery that involves sticking a tube with a light on the end through my bellybutton and doing a bunch of other crap to my unmentionables, not sure b/c i almost passed out after the bellybutton thing. So my question is, am I very ill? Do I need to lie down under air conditioning and rest like my family and fiance are telling me? Or can I run around town doing errands?

You can do what you feel up to doing...but do not press your body too hard.

1. I am so sorry for your loss. I recently went through a miscarriage and I know how emotionally and physically draining it can be. Please take care, you'll be in my thoughts.

2. When you have a miscarriage, you can chose to do the D&C, or you can chose to let it pass naturally. The risk with letting it pass naturally is that your body won't expell all of the fetal tissue. Which, in some cases, can result in infection. Your doctor should have given you the option of D&C or no D&C. If he/she didn't, I would seek a second opinion. Just because you didn't test before your miscarriage obviously doesn't mean you weren't pregnant.

3. Keep taking the pills your doctor gave you, but anytime you "might" have to have surgery, I would seriously seek another doctor's advice. Especially an invasive one, like the one you mentioned.

4. You are probably not very ill, your doctor may have told you the part about the IV and light tube to prepare you, even if there is even a small chance you might have to have it done.

5. Anytime you are sick, or taking antibiotics, I would make a point to get as much rest as possible. Run the errands you absolutely have to do, but then rest. Or ask your concerned family and fiance to run those errands for you and take advantage of the time you have for relaxation.

Take care and I hope this helps, but seriously, I would call another doctor's office, explain the situation and see if they can get you in. If you have to, mention that this is somewhat of an emergency. Tell the new doc. about the treatment your current doc. recommended and why it concerns you. If he says the same thing, stick with your current doc. It's not uncommon to get second opinions. I'd hate to see you go through something unnecessary due to an arrogant doc.

A miscarriage is a very traumatic thing and yes you are sick. You need to relax and take it easy...It is time to listen to the people who care about you most. The last thing that you want to do is be out in public running errands and pass out.

Allow yourself some time to heal and then run the errands...Let the bf do it, it may get done right!

I would rest. If your run around you could catch something like a cold or the flu and that would make it worst. Just rest and relax. Dont do any unnecessary chores and activities.

Good Luck and I am very sorry to hear about your miscarriage.

Sounds serious. You should have bed rest until all is said and done. Having a miscarriage is serious and can become very harmful to your body if you don't take care of yourself, no matter how far along you were when you had it.

It could potentially get worse so I would think it would be a good idea to do the least amount possible and let your body try to fight this infection off.

my opinion is rest until you feel better and when you do you can do some errands but no heavy lifting
