I actually went on the water diet. While it does drain fliuds better, there are many unintentional disadvantages.
For one, you sweat a lot more and a lot easier. Wearing a tshirt during summer time is no longer an option because your body is so ready to dispel.
Also, you pee a lot more and it comes out of nowhere and the pressure is very intense.
Finally, you can't survive without a lot of water if you go somewhere. I went to downtown chicago for a couple hours without any viable sources of water and it was killing me.
You will be flushing "Fat" but not enough to worry. Drink as much as you think you need to. Your body is very smart with its limitations.

In short, yes, it's true to a point...keeping hydrated will help to flush some fat and toxins. It is possible to over-hydrate however; any unusual signs of bloating or swelling might be an indication of this. Since you are working out regularly, I'd just stick to your usual hydration routine....I think the gallon a day would be more than adequate. Feed the muscles with protein, adhere to a low fat diet, and the results you desire will come. Don't try fad diets like this "water diet". For every one success story there are 1000 failures. Do the tried and true methods and you will succeed. Good Luck.

Technically, yes. it does flush 'bad' fat out of the body. 1 gallon (approx 3 litres ) are the amount of water you should drink every day normally too. Kidney needs water to function properly. If you don't drink enough water, the kidney's left over function has to be finished by liver. Since, liver's main function is to take care of the fat, its function if comprimised and so accumulation of fat.
Drinking lots of water will let all the toxins and unwanted wastes to get out of water. So fat accumulation will reduce.
Drinking only water and drinking many gallons is harmful for health. Everything should be done in moderation.
You can also drink tea (green tea, no sugar), and other fluids which also add to your daily water intake amount.

I don't know about the fat, but it does flush out fluids you're retaining. And as a result helps you lose weight.
Usually a half gallon - 1 gallon is recommended.

I am not sure what the maximum is, but I have heard of a college student that died from water poisoning. He was dared to drink a Culligan buckets worth and it killed him. I wouldn't get too drastic with your drinking.

No. No truth to the BS that you need to drink "8 glasses a day" or "half your body weight" either. It's all myth and folklore, no basis in science.
