Hey everyone...my mom broke down and let me buy a straightener. I can Straighten my hair in like 30 minutes...this was on my first try... is this good? Also, are there any tips that would make straightening it easier (certain ways to start, which way to go, preperatiosn, etc).
ALSO: if you aren't going to be serious, then don't answer or else i will report you
THANKS

I love straighteners! I have really thick hair, so I straighten my hair layer by layer. I just put up whatever hair I haven't straightened yet with a ponytail holder and then take down the next layer. It works really well and helps to ensure that all of my hair is straight, not just the top layer. Also, make sure you get as close to the roots as possible and try and get your hair as dry as you can before you straighten it. It helps keep your hair from frizzing up later in the day.

Well, first of all-30 minutes is way too long! But since it was your first try maybe it is not so bad... I straighten my hair almost everyday with a flat iron-I use a heat protecting spray first and then I also use a smoothing product (which I cannot think of the name) and then I blow dry my hair as straight as I can, then I straighten it by sections until I get it as straight as I want it. I flip the ends out and the flat iron works well for that too. I hope you are using a ceramic plated flat iron, b/c any other type will damage your hair. Also, make sure your hair is completely dry before you start straightening-that helps a lot as far as smoothness and how straight you can get it. Hope this helps!

I'm asuming when you say that you bought a straightener..you mean a flat iron? I hope you bought a ceramic one...because they work the best. It really took you 30 minutes though? Maybe you have really curly hair or really long hair. Maybe when you get used to it, it won't take as long. I just blow dry my hair upside down and then straighten my hair in sections. Then afterwards I use Gernier Fructis Style Smoothing Milk. It just smooths your hair and makes it really soft, I love it. Also makes your hair smell really good too.

Well I straighten my hair daily. Start with a heat serum before you straighten it and then I go from the roots and down very slowly. The slower i do it the straighter it gets, and do small pieces at a time. Like little sections at a time.

okay. first of all, if you're going to straighten your hair everyday, either use heat protection or don't wash it every day. hair isn't meant to be shampooed every single day. unless you have greasy hair, just apply conditioner.
what i do is i straighten my hair in sections. put my hair in a half pony right above my ears and straighten the hair at the bottom, then let some more hair down, etc.
i hope i helped =]

i flip my head over and brush it all out so there's no tangles. then i take a brush/fine-tooth comb (it works better) and comb out a section. i follow the comb immediately with the straightener (so that you're combing/straightening simultaneously - does that make sense?). the combing keeps the hair straight and taught and usually only requires one slow pass with the flat iron.
i flip my head back over and go back over any parts that still seem rough or frizzy using the same combing method.
it takes me about 5-10 minutes to do my hair, but it's medium length and very thin/fine.

i have a chi straightener that straightens really quickly & isn't as harsh or damaging on your hair. you should also use this stuff called silk infusion by chi. it works really well... and it makes straightening fast! (30 minutes is definitely too long... try 10 min max)
