I had submitted my papers to my company for H4 to H1B filing on 4thApril'06. For whatever reasons they did'nt sent my papers on 19th May and the visas got over on 26thMay. Now I am worried that I have still not received any receipt no. inspite of the fact that they generally send it in 3 weeks. Someone in similar situation please suggest what to do !!!

USCIS confirmed that they have a backlog of receipts to send out owing to the cap having been reached so soon. They indicated that some will take an additional 4 to 6 weeks (after May 26) to issue.

In the interim, you can either call the USCIS National Customer Service Line (good luck with that one), or contact the bank that issued the check for the filing fees and get a copy of the canceled check. On the back of the check will be your USCIS receipt number, and you can use that to track your petition online.

Good luck

If you can make sure that your papers have been sent on 19th May, nothing to worry about. UPS or FedEx date on which packet leaves employer/attorney's office is the validity of your stay in US.

Secondly, three weeks is minimum time to receive the receipt. I got my VISA extended, transferred, renewed several times but never got receipt before 4-5 weeks.

I suggest you call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 and ask if they have recieved or process your application. If the check which your company used to apply for your visa already cleared, chances are they are starting to process your application already. If you call now (which is peak hours) it might take you more than an hour to wait to talk to a representative. Just call though.
