The autonomic nervous system is composed of the sympathetic (fight or flight) and the parasympathetic (rest and digest) systems. They are involuntary and control basic internal functions like blood vessel dialation and heart rate. Laughing is a higher brain function that is not at all related to the autonomic nervous system.
