i am going to boston with my dad and my 8 year old daughter in late july. my son will be 5 and a half months old at that time. My boyfriend who i live with says i can leave him here with him instead of taking him and worrying about a baby. He's a great dad but im afraid i am going to miss him so much. I do have him 12 hours a day so maybe i shouldn't take him and have a break and spend quality time with my daughter and dad. What do others think? have they ever went away and left their baby?

I think you might be asking because you feel a bit guilty about leaving him behind. But, mommies need a break too. Enjoy yourself! When you come back you'll be refreshed and ready for another 12 hours! Have fun!

I don't think I could ever leave my baby with someone more than a night or two at 5 months old. They need so much and even if it was the worlds greatest dad, there are some things that dad's just don't get. Like all the different cries a baby makes. Men usually aren't receptive to those sorts of things. But if you know that you can trust your husband then go for it and just give him lot and lots and lots of kisses before you leave and as soon as you get back. and don't forget to call everyday if not 10 times a day.

If you have never left your child before it will be hard at times but worth it. If you trust his dad then I would go for it. Be prepared for moments of panic, you'll be enjoying yourself and all the sudden your like oh my God where's my kid! They just happen for like seconds at a time and then you come back to your senses. I think your daughter could definitely use some quality time with you. I have an 8 yr old daughter and a 4 yr old son. From experience i would say you could use the break from the baby and it will be a much less complicated trip without packing for and taking care of a baby.

If you trust him to take care of him. You should leave him. I am sure you daughter would love some quality time with her mother. I have never left my child for more then 24 hours. B/c it is hard to leave them. You need a break, but then you feel bad for taking one. So, good luck!

I never left my baby but my husband mother takes my daughter to missiouri with her so their familiy up there can have time with her. The first few times she went up there i worried and called every hour and freaked out on everything. but now that shes been doing this for a while i have really learned to enjoy the time she is gone not that i dont love my baby but every body needs just a small break sometimes.

As a new mother for a second time I know excatly how you feel, I never left my baby with anyone not even her own daddy overnight. So I say take him with you! It's a mother thing! I can't leave my baby overnight any where! Your dad and daughter won't mind.

Judging by your other question (about your bf being a habitual offender when driving) I wouldn't leave that baby alone with him for two seconds, much less a week or two for a vacation. What if he takes him out in the car one night (drunk) and is in an accident? Can you imagine the guilt you'll feel?

Its hard to leave your child. I have a terrible time still, and my son is 2. It took me a while to leave him overnight at Grandma's... Its totally up to you. It might be a good experience for Daddy to spend some time onding with your son. If you do leave him behind, be prepared to miss him like crazy

how long will you be gone? I have heard it is not good to leave him but if he is to stay with his dad for a week, it will give him quality time with his son.
