some good advice from these answers.

I would say "yes" do the crunches and ab work. AND cut out fats and sweets.

If you ONLY do exercise, you will have strong muscles covered by fat.
If you ONLY do diet, you will strip away the fat...but not have the definition of strong muscles.
SO- do both. Exercise and watch your food intake.

It all seems to ALWAYS come down to the same answer:
Eat less, exercise more!

If you are looking to lose weight consistently and permanently you will find these 3 keys to success very helpful.

1. Create a "Diet for Life". A healthy diet that will give your body the nutrients it needs without a high caloric intake and also be satisfying for you to maintain for years or a lifetime. Try going to www.ediets.com for some help.

2. Just like your diet you should have a fun and interesting workout plan that you can do on an ongoing basis. Do the things that you like doing and it will be a lot easier to maintain.

3. Persistance is probably the main key. Know that if you are doing 1 & 2 correctly then the results will come. Don't get frustrated if your not losing 20lbs in a week. Keep on working at it and in 3 months you will be healthy and well on your way to a perfect body.

Much Success to you!

Welp, I'm a certified yoga instructor, and we usually have a trim tummy and are very toned for good reasons. First stay away from anything that will make you bloated like gum or pop or food that does the same. Drink a lot of water. Sit/stand staight up and pull your tummy in throughout the whole day to strengthen your inner core muscles. Those are the ones that let your tummy hang out, or appear flat. Then, do cardio religiously. I mean everyday. That's the only way you're going to burn off that fat thats covering your tummy, even if it is toned. Get 7-8 hrs of sleep and try the "bicycle" exercise for your tummy along w/everything else I've listed. Plus it wouldn't hurt to join a yoga or pilates class near you. Those do a lot of good for your core muscles, too. Good luck to you!

Fortunately it is not intended for a female to have a flat tummy.. There is a fatty apron over the lower abdominal area for a reason. That reason being for protection.

The indoctrination has become so intense, there is a constant drive, to become something one is not intended to be. If you are getting regular exercise and eating properly, you may prevent that apron from increasing but, be content to be female and healthy.

Plus, don't allow the negative thoughts to alter your hormonal production...remember the purpose of the pituitary gland and its influence on all the other glands.. the pituitary gland is situated very close to where those thoughts are generated and is subject to being stimulated by those negative thoughts. Those hormones also are involved in the distribution of fats.

We'll need some more information on this one, such as: your sex, height, and weight.

But here are some general suggestions:

don't do crunches or situps. A lot of people will tell you to do them.... don't! What crunches do is give you a strong set of abs, but if there's still fat covering them, you can have the strongest abs in the world, and they still won't be visible. Make sense?

So, following that logic, you need to focus on fat loss. Concentrate on your diet. Find the amount of calories you need to MAINTAIN your weight (do a google search), and then, eat 500 calories per day less than that. Maintain this diet, until you're satisfied with your tummy.

Good luck!

What I have realised is you need to lose weight all over before you can target your tummy. Obviously what worked for me might not necessarily work for you as well, but you need to lose weight all over, that will reduce the fat on your tummy and it will be easier to get rid of it with sits ups or others quite similar. Most importantly, so not skip breakfast, it prevents you from being intensly hungry during lunch which can prompt you to eat more than you need. All the best.
