I agree with little freedom's answer.
I think that she gave you some good ideas. 2 is a bit young to be concerned with speech yet. Some children talk more than others and they don't all go by the book as far as their milestones.
If you are concerned,I would recommend getting a second opinion,or at least go to see the speech therapist to get their opinion on the situation.
Don't be overly worried though right now,but maybe just listen to what they have to say about it.

Yes, at least for a professional opinion. You should spend one day writing down all the words your daughters can say clearly and the words she tries to say. Also write down the phrases. This will help to give the professional a more accurate count of what she can say.

I think 2 years is a little young for routine visits to a speech therapist, but for the initial consultation and opinion, it certainly would be in your benefit. They can tell you what to look for.

And just fyi if time goes by and your daughter does need speech, try the local colleges. Many of them (universities especially) have programs where the students who will become speech therapists or in the speech programs, have low cost or free speech therapy with the students. Very good programs.

I would go ahead and take her just to be sure. Maybe she's having hearing problems. That can lead to delayed speech. I wouldn't be too worried though.Like others have said, she's just now turning 2. She'll be fine :0)

That's ridiculous.

She is two! That's like saying some child should go to physical therapy because they aren't walking at a year.

Let her develop at her own pace. I'd feel insulted if a doctor said that to me.

Sounds like the DR. wants money to me, children all develop differntly she could be saying not much now and then talk your ears off when she is a teen, I would not trip, just sounds like the good dr is doing what dr's do, try to get more money from you.
