Because he knows god doesn't exist, so he can't lose. On the other hand, he doesn't know that he doesn't exist either, so maybe he's not so bright.

One thing for sure that Lucifer is smarter then man ( god created man) Lucifer took the fruit of tree of life not knowloge like adam.
Lucifer lives for ever and i guess he has enough inside information about the GOD ( way better than all those religious ppl all togheter) And if he decide to create a sin ( and disobey the GOD) in heaven ( suposelly GOD build heaven without any of sins which leads Lucifer never commit a sin even when he rebel)
it means Lucifer knows what he is doing. Of cause little ppl from Cristianity would say Lucifer is stupid. They simply forget that GOD him self created Lucifer. WHich indirectly implies that GOD create stupid Thing.

Lucifer is Greek for Morning Star. A morning star is a planet that reflects light from the sun. Therefore a morning star is light without heat. This is what you need to know to unlock the spiritual meaning. Light without heat represents having the truths of the church without having any affection for good (also called charity in your heart). Therefore, when a lucifer dies, they cannot keep the truth anymore - they appropriate falsehoods to themselves to match their evil. Everyone goes to where their affection leads - the good into the marriage of good and truth and the evil into the marriage of evil and falseness. This is why the Bible states "to those that have it will be freely added, but to those that have not it will be taken away, even what little they have."

Lucifer was an ark angel at one time and he wanted to be like God and have all the power of God, and that is why he became a fallen angel. He wants all the power God has and became selfish and evil. That is how he became the devil and is still trying to be more powerful than God to this day.

I have a tendency to ask exactly the same kind of questions. Lucifer was clever more than smart I believe, if that seems like a difference at all. More importantly its all just a story anyways.

Satan and lucifer can be seen as the ego.
IMO lucifer is the ego driven being who thinks there is nothing beyond "enlightenment" elightentment being the actf KNOWING (not just believing, but KNOWING and experiencing) that you are MORE than just a physical self. Beyond this is mystical union, but lucifer stops at the place of the self, I think thsi is called sartori in buddhism..
but thats one view...there are others....like a more gnostic view would be very different

Lucifer first was an angel who tested man in order to make man closer to God. He became selfish and wanted people to follow him and thus became the fallen angel we know as the devil. But God allows this, because he still tests whether you or I are good. At the end of the world, the Devil will ultimately lose and all people will be judged and separated as either sheep (followers of God) or goats (followers of the devil).

the devil is not bright at all for wanting to challenge GOD anyway. But what people dont know is that he has no power. he is scary. All you have to do is call on JESUS. him and his fallen angels are very and totaly scared of his name. He will run away from anybody that call on JESUS name. The devil just uses influence to get people to do something. If that person dont stop the thought, than people give credit tothe devil. the devil cant make nobody do nothing. All he can do is hope that you listen to him. So if you are feeling troubled or bothered or sick or anything not going your way, just remember to CALL ON JESUS and the devil will flee!!!!

He was beautiful, and he was God's favorite. He started to think he was better than God, pride overcame his intelligence, simple as that. Besides, if God knows all, then he would have known Lucifer would do all of that and therefore he created "evil" intentionally.

This is what you people of the book thinks.
According to Islam lucifer was not an enemy of God nor did he chalenged God.
Lucifer was so fervent devout of God that he refused to bow to Adam when God ordered him, forgetting that he was disobeying God. When God rejected him he became the worst enemy of MAN and asked God to prove that this creation(man) will most of them choose Hell instead. And God granted him, that's why he is after us all the time, If he was God's enemy wouldn't God destroy him in one glance.

The bible has nothing about lucifer challenging god. That was all invented after the bible was invented.
