Happens all the time. I hit my head a lot as a kid and look at me! (That's supposed to be reassuring).
If he just fell off of the toilet then he probably didn't hit hard enough to do any damage. Some signs of a head injury are pupils that aren't equal or don't respond to light, confused or inappropriate speech (although with a 3-year-old who can tell), nausea, esp. with a concussion.
I would really recommend just putting an ice pack on the area and keeping him still for awhile to keep the swelling down.

I'm not a doctor or a nurse, but I am a college student going into respiratory therapy and I have been told by anatomy instructors that childrens skulls are thicker and tougher than people our age. My daughter fell off the toilet about a week ago and smacked her head on the door. I gave her some childrens motrin and just watched her for the next few hours. I think you son will be fine. If he has a headache give him something for it. Play some games with him or take him outside and run around the house a few times. It happens to the best. Good luck!

I'm not a doctor or nurse, just a mother of 3. I've always heard not to let them go to sleep for over an hour. Sleepiness could mean that he's gotten a concusion.
When my children have fallen and hit their heads, I just watch them to see if anything seems different about them. If something does seem different, contact your doctor.
Hope everything is ok.

We've done the car seat thing. When my son was in the convertable car seat we put him in there and then clicked the carseat into the base. My husband took our son inside and we both FREAKED when we realized what we did. Once in a while he get's a french fry too. We are all human and mistakes happen we as adults and parents need to try and minimize them. Purposely leaving a 9 month old in the tub and smoking around them isnt an accident, its stupidity

Look for syptoms like those of the flu or cold. You know queitness, sleepiness, comatose state, Watch for dialated pupils and swelling. crying after a fall is an awesome thing so thats a great sign, you shoulld worried if the Don't cry. All kids fall and God made them tough, so he's probably fine. Just keep an eye on him!

I would have to agree with JeffBev..
Any fall on his head 3ft and higher is an immediate need to have him checked out being the toilet he may just get a goosebump.
My oldest son is all boy and tends to tumble alot. They make for lovely warrior scars to show off as they get older. It's ok to let him fall asleep. For children, Traumatization is normal for them to become tired. If he is tired wake him up every 30 mins to an hour to ensure that he continues to respond. Look for uneven pupils. Make sure that he acts normal. That he responds well to you. Any signs that he becomes nauseated or does not seem to recognize you is an immediate need to have him be checked out. Other than that he should be fine. Nothing to worry about.

As long as it didn't knock him out, he doesn't seem disoriented, or lethargic and the pupils of his eyes are the same size then you should be fine. Watch him over the next couple hours for those symptoms.
